What, if anything, do you carry double items of?

And, what have you personally experienced, read, or seen on cyber world as 'overkill?'

In the van? The only thing I carried more than one of is underwear, socks, and T-shirts. Everything else I carried only a single item that would serve multiple functions.

Oh wait, I carried two fire extinguishers and 3 guns :) What's that say about me? Safety first

Flashlights, fire starters, knives, water containers.

I used be into caving and we were big on the whole "two is one and one is none" thing. I still make sure that my basic functions are covered in at least two ways.

Also, screwdrivers.

Nowadays, USB chargers and battery packs. Especially USB cables.

As a prepper I carry lots of extra clothes that are just stored under the bed or in the extra closets that are harder to get to. I also carry an over-abundance of food, TP and paper towels, and toiletries, but much of it I will work my way through during the first few months of traveling...no point in getting rid of something I know I'll use down the line and would have to buy again. I figure that as long as I have the room to store it in the camper it would be stupid to get rid of it and it will save me money in the long run.

In regards to anything else, I have doubles of some tools like screwdrivers and sockets/wrenches. I have too many pots and pans because they are part of a set, but I also have room for them. I probably have too much silverware and too many knives.

Oh yeah, one other thing... a second key!

Well-hidden.

Hey DuneElliot, Have space will travel, that works!  :) We could split Costco items? haha! Of course, you would have to take the abundance with what I have planned. ?

I seem to attract cars that need fluids. I generally only carry one container of distilled water, power steering fluid, and brake fluid. I usually have 2 or 3 quarts of 10W40 Motor oil.

If you have a fairly new Rig and carry some kind of roadside  repair insurance, perhaps AAA etc,  you may not need to be too concerned with carrying backup goods.   I agree, other than clothing, bed & bath linen, etc if you run short of something and you aren't out in the wilderness you could replace it during the next day at some nearby store.   But this kind of self-assuredness will come in time.

I carry 4 or 5 blankets....well a mix of blankets and sleeping bags. I have a slight obsession with down blankets and sleeping bags they pack very small so they don't take up much space. I have different ones rated for different temps, back when I used to pack pack I used different ones for summer and winter trips. They say don't leave them compressed for long periods as it can ruin them, but I inherited my grand dad's down sleeping bag about 25 years ago and it sat in a compression sack for what he figured was at least 20 years and it was warm and fluffy so i'm not sure if that's an old wives tale or not. I actually just finally retired it because it was worn out past recognition.

I carried 2 wife's for way to long ....
Now i carry 2 alimonies & boon-dock to survive

never been more happier in my live

Too many knives???

Kitchen and steak knives. I must admit I have an affinity for a good blade. My swords hold a very special place in my heart and on my camper's walls!

Wear an extra key(s) on a strong cord around your neck. I've only locked myself out of the rig MILES from anywhere.

Don't bet your life on that. I used to drive for railroads, and lots of the pickup places were really obscure, AND with no cell signal. Twice, the COPS couldn't find me -- I wouldn't bet a lot of money on a minimum-wage tow truck driver.
