Canada Celebrates its 150th Birthday - Free Admission to National Parks

Admission to all of Canada's national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas will be free for the entire year of 2017.  A pass can be ordered from the park website. I'm not sure why a pass is necessary if admission is free. I also don't know if you can get a free pass at a park like you would do if you had to buy one. Anyway there isn't a time limit on getting the pass and there aren't a set number of passes available. Canadian parks are beautiful and the passes are normally expensive so this is a great opportunity for anyone who will be traveling in the north next year.  http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/index.aspx

Yes. Sesqucentennial, this is THE year to visit & explore Canada. Don't Forget the nationwide festivities for Canada Day (July 1st, 2017), which is a big deal like the BiCentennial for America in 1976.

What is not free?

Parks Canada is pleased to offer free admission to our places, however, regular fees still apply for other experiences and services, such as:

Camping, backcountry and other accommodations;
Canadian Rockies Hot Springs;
Mooring;
Reservation fees;
Guided tours and hikes and programs not usually included with admission;
Firewood;
Backcountry overnight use.
