Well, I knew it was going to happen one of these days. Steps have always been an issue for me & my arthritis but I could manage to get in & out slowly & carefully. Friday, I just couldn't. I had to half crawl & half drag myself into the abode. I could still swing up into the drivers seat okay (my poor steering wheel!) but the twisting of coming through is a beast.

I don't have any spare cash & was hoping this would wait until I could cobble some metal together & hire a welder who works very reasonable to get something happening.

My resources were some small scraps of wood & a couple pieces of perforated angle bracket left over from the solar system add on.

So, necessity is the mother of this step extension & if I do say so myself it's awesome!! I can walk right in no hands & even feel safe going out without a death grip on the handle. It still needs to be improved & probably the whole thing redone but for today it's a mighty YAY!!

Pretty cool, glad you found something that worked!

My Dad had built a low step platform when carrying my elderly Mom in his (mine now) E150 van.  So now if I carry her somewhere, I carry that step platform along.  We do what we must.

yes a short step stool helps tremendously. a few small steps is easier than one large one. highdesertranger

It holds my weight great, thanks for the support & understanding! There is a low platform sitting on the top step inside the RV. Once split in half that will be the inside half step as I couldn't do that one either & the other half be an outside step.

I still have to be very careful & I will get something permanent welded one of these cheques!

I want to keep the knees that I've got. Ever since we got a Chevy Silverado 4x4 I've kept a folding two step stool in the bed. To keep it from moving out of my reach I secure it with a small rope to a back tie down.

Me thinks you could fulfill your needs with an able bodied assistant pushing from the rear Big Hug from Me and tiny Timex co-pilot

Hello
Very intriguing. I understand this very well. My sister is now in a wheelchair part time and I am considering buying a toy hauler because of the ramp in the back. Still not sure what to do about a tow vehicle.
