Can I get an opinion on this van?

Replacing the refrigerator is expensive if it is indeed not working. The price is about 3000 too high for the area I am in but I don't know about your area. Generator repairs are also expensive. If you plan on using your roof air without an electrical hook-up you need the genny working. Absorption refrigerators take awhile to cool, much longer than a home type unit.

I would be shy about a "small coolant leak" there are many reasons for a leak, some very expensive to repair and some cheap. Be cautious.

Chevy makes a good Van.

For sure check it out but budget in a new refrigerator against the asking price.
Everyone asks higher than they will sell it for.

It's been listed for 16 days, its not a blazing bargain or it would be already GONE!!!!

Get it for $5000 and fix what needs fixing.

It cost me $1700 (Canadian) installed for a new 3-way frig. The Canadian dollar is worth around 35% less than the American dollar.
 
i'd like it a lot more at $3-4500,there will be work to be done,interior and mechanical
 
I would pressure test the cooling system. See where the "small" leak is
I had 2 small leaks in my van, the rear freeze plugs and the heater core. I had to pull the transmission to get at the freeze plugs and changing the hater core was not much more fun.

Yeah, anything I buy I'm going to take to get inspected first, but it will cost me some money. So I only want to pick vehicles that are worth it. Should I spend the money to get this one checked out?

Pay attention to how 'heater core' becomes, 'hater core' in this post
That is apt, and fitting, as anyone who's replaced a few can tell you, although there are a very few vehicles whse hater cores you can change without a major desire for body contortions, most reacquire what strongly resembles a 'cirque de soleil' act to do so
 
If someone says to me "You may have to change the heater core" I'd smile, tip my hat and RUN...

Yes, 1978 Chev G20....6 hours and afterward a 5 min scream fest of obscenities to make me feel better....
 
I can even remember reading about a few car models where the design engineers screwed it up so bad you had to remove the front fender to change the heater core . . .

if it is straight and no rust it would be a real nice base to start with but at that age a few somethings will need to be fixed but if the owner has taken care of that...

Just try changing the #4 plug on a 73 454 Corvette.  :mad:

Even assuming it is in good condition, I would have concerns about getting replacement parts for it. That thing is 26 years old. I'm thinking this may have been better posted in the RV forum.
