Hi all. I am writing about the small modified  Benford teardrop camper I am building. I am going to tow the camper behind my 2013 Elantr GT. The towing limit is 750 lbs with  tongue weight of less than 75 lbs. I was able to get the finished weight down to 475 lbs and a tongue weight of 45 lbs. I was able to recycle nearly everything in it. My total cost for the build was $295 plus the trailer that I had as a motorcycle carrier. I can remove 6 bolts and remove the cabin and re-install the bike carrier. Here are some pictures.

The camper is 40" wide by 84" long not including the tongue, and 42" high. It is perfect for one and pleasantly snug for two. I am looking forward to doing some Inexpensive traveling in it. Jeff

Thanks, I enjoyed building it. I am retired and a good project like this keeps me thinking. I got all of my inspiration from tnttcom the Teardrop site. They have some very resourceful people there. Jeff

I found these pictures of the camp Chuck box for the camper. It rides inside when traveling and hangs on the rack on back when cooking.

Not Tear-Drop. Not Canned-Ham. Maybe Bread-Loaf? :) :)

Very cool! What you putting inside? Just a bed?

Thanks for the comments. As small as it is you might call it a hotdog bun! Ha ha. I plan on putting a 4" futon mattress in it that I can fold up for a couch or lay flat for a mattress. There is a 16" deep shelf inside in the back for clothes and indoor cooking if necessary.  I used the dinette cushions from my old m/h and they just fit, but I don't want to wear them out. I should be able to pull it behind my car with no problems. Jeff

Well it's getting warm enough here for camping and this little camper has done very well. However my wife is having foot surgery in a couple of weeks so the camper is on the sale block. After her surgery I may build another larger "Canned Ham" type of larger mini camper. Have a great summer out in the boonies. Jeff

Very cool. I have a jet skii trailer that I'm getting ready to start work on to do a similar conversion with. I have been absent for a long time but now that the wife is gone and I'm all alone, it's time for me to start doing things for me. I have a honda shadow that I would like to carry along but I don't think that would be feasible towing with an s10 blazer. I never had a youtube chanel, or whatever it is called but I am thinking about documenting it on there and if I do that, I will document it here too. Have fun ya'll

What a neat rig, all out of recycled material and you had the trailer already!  I priced trailers when I thought about a DIY teardrop, but they are so high, even used ones.  I need help, that's for sure.  I'm saving money, but need help on how to spend it.  Wow, that could open a can of worms, LOL!!
