my van is insulated, so i was wondering if i could spend the winter in British Colombia instead of shoveling a drive way and freezing my ass in Quebec, i like long drive, so i was thinking starting my trip in early September and driving west till BC, hang around the west coast then drive south ands mayby back at the end of summer?....freemind46

There are two people in the forum who live in BC full time year round. Since I live in my vehicle in Ontario Year Round, BC is a cake walk in a lot of the lower areas.

Now since they are living in Tents in the oil fields areas in Northern BC, Alberta, Yukon and Alaska, It is very doable.

Bob the site owner and someone else lived in their vehicle in Alaska during a few winters.

Alaska in the summer, Ok !but never in the winter!, i just wante to avoid the snow and deep cold,....(in Ontario)you must have a good heater!!!anything i should do to plan this correctly .......i have friends who lives in Vancouver and phone me each time we get a snowstorn in the east, man i would love to knock at there door this winter : D. ........thanks..freemind46

I'm from B.C. Vancouver Island to be more specific. It doesn't snow here as much as Ontario and if it does it doesn't last as long. Are winters are shorter in length as well I believe but it can go minus 3 to 5. We get more rain then snow. I surely wouldn't want to try it. I have plans to head south and follow the sunshine. It for sure has to beat Ontario conditions though for living in a vehicle. Good luck.

Willie lives in the Interior of BC, has been doing it for over 15yrs, I knew about 15-20 people who did it full time when I lived there as well.
Take care

Hi freemind46,

When I am in Mexico, the most folks I see there are Canadians....how about a nice warm beach with all the fish, fresh fruits and veggies , eggs and tortillas you can eat?

How about a beach for $7 a night or less where a dude comes around everyday with everything you need for sale including fresh baked pastries....

I am not sure a raining coastal BC winter can match that very well...

Just sayin'......

Bri
First year in Southern Ontario, did a year in Northern Ontario with up to -50deg years back and drove a truck around North American for a couple of years.
Plus Canadian Military, living in Tents, Dug outs, slit trenches, vehicles and Bivi bags for a few years in Real Canadian Winters, Northern Ontario, Northern Manitoba, Alberta, Sask and in BC. BC was the warmest by far, but O so damn wet all the time.

Real winters like Northern Ontario Winters..

so that's a good reference!, after you can live in hell and find it confyi did live in logs cabin ( for fun ) but i did like it and not afraid of cold, but after a few months, it get to you, so i thought about BC, imagine i could do stuff year round, here in Quebec , you lose half the year wainting for summer then you rush to do the stuff that should have done..it realy gets to you..i'm planning to move, where theres a water front...freemind46.
