Ok, long story short, disabled vet, mostly functional now. But having experienced homelessness I decided when I got back on my feet first thing I would do is a cheap piece of land I could park an RV on and never be in that situation again, no loans or worry of repossession. That said, I'm on 8 acres I'm mostly not using. I parked a couple cars, an RV, and an old mobile home I bought for storage, so I needed part of 1 acre. When I bought the place I had been taking care of a yellow lab named Honey for my daughter since she went to college about the time everything went bad. I jokingly named this place 'Honey's Park' when we moved in, then a month or so later she died in the middle of the day, at 5 years, of an aneurysm. But now in her honor I want it to be 'Honey's Park'.
NO SERVICES AVAILABLE ON MY PROPERTY unless you use my power or log onto my wi-fi, I thought that was sort of implied in the fact that this was a 'boondock' thread but needed saying.
Because of reading about others with similar living theories to me, I've decided that anyone who wants to park an RV and stay here, long term or short, as long as they as reasonable to me and my new dogs who are nice, they are more than welcome. I am within 500' of a truck stop with a Publicly owned RV dump / water station in its parking lot, which is available march thru october at least. I buy trucker showers from the truck stop once in a while at $5 when I'm sick of RV showers. My other neighbors are an LDS church (mormons) and a KOA, and a small house with a couple horses you will drive past coming down my driveway. My property is what's known as a Flag property, basically meaning hers was peeled out of mine at some point so I own the 20' next to the church/my driveway and it's not just a right of way. My place is a little odd to find, almost looks like one of my neighbors driveways, but if you let me know your coming I will show you in and give you park options, or check my website.
I will try and put in fire pits by spring. Else, stay free, private land, no one messing with you, private land in the county, no zoning etc to mess with for just parking or sleeping in an RV.
If I'm not home don't mess with my dogs or my stuff unless I've asked you to, and we will be cool. Feel free to call if you have any questions at all.
Driveway entrance is on road with KOA, follow signs, but I'm the little dirt driveway literally just the other side of the churchs fence on the KOA side. Come see me or gimme a holler if ya want a free place to stay.
Basically after you find my driveway and drive down it a bit it will start curving to the right and you will see my stuff parked there, feel free to park anywhere to the left of my driveway. Big field, around 3-4 acres I've set aside for this. I have installed signs on my driveway past the 2436 sign at the front, plus signs leading down the ATV path from the truck stop. Tents can set up anywhere.
The town is a total tourist town, hundreds of RVs pass thru every day on their way to nearby national forests and things like craters of the moon nearby, we have 2 KOA type facilities in a town of 900 so no one is shocked when a camper comes to town or anyone uses the dump station.
Made a site with pics for it now too, includes an aerial google shot and enough pics to have no prob parking where your supposed to when I'm not home. Even if you do park in the wrong spot, no big worry if you don't mess with my stuff, I'll just show you better when I get home, which I usually am sadly, need to get out more. I have also made friends with some of the local sheriffs department and do not believe that short of lighting off an incendiary bomb or shooting at the neighbors houses or having a screaming fight with your spouse you would ever get to meet them. Not a high crime area and they won't come down my driveway without a reason. www.honeyspark.weebly.com

Howdy Scar,

I have family in the Boise area, I may take you up on this offer. I get back and forth around WA, OR, ID and UT; it'd be nice to have a place to call home base.

I'm not close to Boise, but your welcome either way. Anyone who comes before spring next year will either have to boondock it, or park close to me if ya want power. In the spring I'm gonna hire a tractor and generally clean up some of the property. Got it down to a couple of old power poles I can't personally move and a pile of junk chain link fencing. I'll get her all done this summer, figure most people will want to use it in the summer anyways, unless you grew up in a northern state, can't figure many people would boondock in the winter above 5,600 feet in the rockies, even on the edge of the Idaho central plain desert.

scar i salute you. glad to hear you are on the way up. what a great offer. i might look you up in the summer(2013). best of luck. highdesertranger

Oh, Butte County, IDAHO... I thought you were near Butte, MONTANA. Gorgeous country either way, and I will definitely look you up when I'm out that way next year. Thanks so much!

Nice offer. Once again proving veterans are great people. Hire a vet folks!! If you are a vet, go get yourself an American Legion, or VFW membership. It could help you get help some time.

Scar,
Welcome. Very nice of you to offer refuge at "Honeys park", looks spacious.
A bit too frosty for us this time of year but may take you up on your offer come
summer.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Hi Scar! Thank you for your service and sacrifice! I hope to take you up on your offer next fall. Idaho is a gorgeous place to hang out!

I'm well aware this area isn't what most boondockers would want in the winter time But figured I'd post the idea and get it ready for next year.

Thanks for the offer! bookmarking! I'll bring the grill and enough meat to feed a few folks. It won't be till next year, though. Still raising funds.

Cool, had some PMs that brought up a few issues, mostly that I will post on my own site and not hijack the thread here, mostly stuff explaining about me and why/how I plan to do this. Read it and call/text/email me if ya have suggestions or comments. I do better on the phone than I do in the typed word, sometimes I come across gruff or ornery, when truth is I just tell it like it is, and don't lie, and sometimes this gets me in trouble. But if curious, I will update www.honeyspark.webs.com saturday sometime. Night peeps

Wow, that's very generous.

That is really generous and nice! It sounds like a great set up. You could have a large veggie garden and even a few chickens!

I have thought that I would like to buy some land and set up a cheap winter parking location in NV or AR somewhere, but not for a few years yet. Must gather funds first.

We are in BC, Canada right now, in the northern Rockies and are originally from Ont, so winter is not a big deal to us. Many people here like the winter and will be happy to stay there for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, even hunting and so forth. Don't be surprised if you get winter campers

We are semi retired now and super tired of winter, so it won't be us but we might stop in for a few weeks in the fall.

Is there water on the site?

Thank you for your generosity!

I'm wondering if that truck-stop will be happy about people coming from your property to dump their sewerage and get free water........

I have nothing on site except electricity.
As for how happy the truck stop will be, the dump site is actually ran by the county and is free to public campers (1000's a month) as is the fresh water there too, but is only open to dump from march to the end of october, about the same schedule as the KOA next door. It was set up by a local donation of land from the original truck stop builder on the far side of the parking lot of the truck stop, so the truck stop will either have no opinion, as its beyond their control, or be happy to see more people that might purchase gas etc, but it is now publicly owned by the county. This town sees so many people coming thru heading to nearby national forests, river of no return, craters of the moon, etc, that while it only has 900 people living here, we have 2 KOA type area's so no one here is shocked or surprised by a camper using the dump station. Part of the reason I chose the town was cheap land, but the other part is its mostly populated by retired folks, and the population has been decreasing steadily since the 70s.
I have became friends with the owner of the truck stop, as I go there several times a day, buy coffee, pop, trucker showers etc. I shouldn't be surprised at how pessimistic people can be sometimes, but trust me, everything I have said in my posts and on my website are true, and can be relied on. Free parking, dump site, fresh water at dump site etc.
I plan to put in fruit trees, a well, some chickens etc in the long run so thanks for the input. Sorry if I haven't been on the site much lately, I have been politically active on the whole 2nd amendment front and it's been taking up my time. I look forward to seeing anyone that ever wants to come, and will put up signs saying 'boondocking' or something for even when I'm not home, which I hope to spend more time out camping this summer myself. Anyone who wants to winter camp can, but without power yet it would suck out there. It has warmed up in the last couple days but we saw a month there with many -20 nights.

Scar, you're aces high.

Ok, Posted a new sign on the web site that makes it super easy to know where to park, sign is right next to 4 fire pits (barrels mostly buried in ground) but feel free to park anywhere in that field.
Weather has warmed up, days in the 60s and nights above freezing so not bad now, dump station should open any day now for the summer.
I'm not on this site much for personal reasons but thought an update was in order. Still need to haul off some garbage piles from the previous owner, old lumber and fencing, but have cleaned up the few acres that I planned for camp sites. Have a tractor coming sometime this month to smooth up a couple bumps in my road, but not a big deal to get over, just rough on flat ground, couple ruts from me fighting mud this spring and such. Now have multiple signs on front driveway to let you know you are there, plus signs leading from the Truck stop and my ATV trail.
Hope to see some of you this summer. Later

Scar, what an awesome offer. I just watched a pbs documentary on the river of no return. A couple went into the national forest for a year to moniter and film the wolves. Absolutely beautiful country out there, and over 800 miles of wilderness trails to boot. Id very much enjoy coming out there and seeing it for myself.
