i do not have a van or camper or trailer yet to build out. so here is this morning's blueberry pie build.
circa 1954, Betty Crocker ( my grandma's cookbook that came to me)
cost of materials ~$5, local source berries, hand picked
no cheating, crust from scratch

Looks yummy.
Upside down pie.
And it looks so light,
so light it defies gravity!
Must be calorie free.
Tell us your secret.

too true, no calories that way

grrrrr, can't make pics behave

Pics are fine when clicked....however, care to share the recipe?

i did share  :) 1954 Betty Crocker cookbook

the deets:
4  cups fresh blueberries
3/4 sugar
3T flour
Dash of salt
grated lemon rind ( zest)

mix all and spread in unbaked pie crust, sprinkle with 3t lemon juice and dot with 1T butter
attach upper crust, add vent holes
bake @400 for ~30 minutes (til crust is golden)

crust:
2 cups flour
2/3 cup butter (never use crisco! it burns and tastes crappy)
2 t salt
5-8 T cold water

Mix flour & salt.  Use a fork to cut in butter(room temp us easiest to work with) until butter is size of small peas. Gradually add water, mixing into dough, sometimes more, sometimes less, you just don't want a sticky gob.

for extra flaky crust i cut butter in two separate times, ends up with smaller "peas" and bigger ones.
Flour smooth, pref cool, surface to roll out dough

Thanks Tav

What a beautiful build.

I've got about 2cups of wild blueberries sitting in my fridge now. Has anyone here ever tried to make smaller tarts from a full sized pie recipe? I'd like to hear your advice on it if you wouldn't mind.

yes, can follow the same recipe, just cut everything in half.  Cut large circles out of dough, spoon filling on half and fold over, sealing edge with fork. cut some little vent holes, bake on a cookie sheet.

if you don't seal edges well the blueberry juice leaks and burns, yuck.  maybe rub a little butter on cookie sheet to prevent sticking, though real butter dough should not stick unless oven heat is higher on bottom of pan

btw, is 3/4 cup sugar..forgot to type "cup" above
