My sisters and I have been going through and reminiscing old family photos and came across this one, figured a good one to share here.
This was before my time, about '67 or so.

I love to own that vehicle in that shape right now. I’d sell it and buy a really nice rig.

Ha, that's the 1st thing I thought of, a vintage VW bus in that condition today? Cha Ching!!

Believe it or not I bought a VW bus years ago that has a 341 Hemi out of a 57 DeSoto in it. Yea it looked like hack the Butcher installed it.

Whoa Freelander -- ^^^^^

Oh man that Hemi would take up an awful lot of room in that little bitty thing. Did it have a DeSoto transmission and then a driveshaft and a regular differential? I'd love to see that mess.

I have a friend who built one up using a Buick V6, installed mid-drive with a short driveshaft. It was a fairly neat installation, but it took up the whole back half of the van LOL --

Late in the game there were several that used a complete front wheel drive K cradle and drive train with a round front radiator mounted like a spare tire that used pipe under the bus front to back for the coolant.

They just cut a hole in the middle of the floor, mounted the motor, and DeSoto 2 speed tranny, used the DeSoto rear axle, the drive shaft was a couple of inches long.

Yep it was a real hack job.

I heard reports of this thing doing Wheelies down the main drag in town.
