I have several for different situations.   One that gets used a lot has hot wire tips to melt through the insulation so as to not nick or score any of the conductor strands.   Often used on aircraft wiring where wire gauge used has been calculated and where a nick could result in being a stress concentration point in high vibration situations.   For single strand telephone wire, nice sharp square edge on the needle nose pliers is sufficient.

Hot wire tips  ?
How do you get the tip hot ?
Are they electric?

Stripping wires has been a part of my life since i was a kid and I have used every type there is. The most important thing is to not nick the wire.
I'd get the Kleins

After looking at all the different  strippers my conclusion  is I would  also go with the
Klien or a different high quality  mechanical stripper but I would use it with the combination  of  a heat gun or a old soldering iron to soften the insulation    , you would need a heat gun anyway for heatshrink tubes.

Are these what your  using?

Very similar.   Different brand, Nichrome wire tips on a pliers arrangement.   Foot switch applies power and only a second or two to heat.

Fantastic for stripping very small gauge wires as there is no need to guard against the risk that you may "draw" the wire with the pull of cutting jaw strippers.   I also use the hot wire on ribbon cable to unmounted intergrated circuits when prototyping.
