Riddle me this batman...if a fella was wanting to get the best bang for the buck on a camper which craigs list location would be the best?
Lets say older Class A rigs?
Or does it really matter?
I was sitting here in Kansas after spending the day scooping snow and was thinking that maybe some place like Florida where people go to retire then move into assisted living or something.

I am kinda just thinking out loud as I am not in a situation yet yo get myself on the road, but wanted to start looking and dreaming a little.

Try searchtempest. It will search within a certain area according to how large an area around any given place you choose. Or try something like" rvs site:craigslist.org "in google for aa nation wide search.

I've always just checked the areas around where I live in three states: Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Always found something interesting when I looked. Just keep checking back; things are added and deleted every day.

I always noticed there seems to be alot for sell in California, Texas, and Florida, partly due to large population base but also due because they are winter destinations. Don't rule out RV Trader and the like. Seeing what is out there and at what prices will help you set your limits and expectations. You might check out RV Consumer Group to help choose brands that may stand up better than others.

Class A and most class Cs you will be towing a toad, trailer you will be towing the trailer, and Class B or truck camper you are packed tight. Pick your poison but it usually takes a couple of tries to find what works for you.

Good luck.
Jeff

i have heard that the area around quartzite and the colorado river where the snowbirds go in the winter are a good place to look. health issues often force sales. mind you i have never checked this out but have heard it from several people it kind of makes sense, in kind of a sad way. highdesertranger

I agree with hdr, where the snowbirds congregate.

About 2 years ago for the following period of a year, I was doing fairly intense daily research on used RVs. I was looking nationally but ended up concentrating my search to FL, TX, AZ, NV and CA. Being from New England it was no accident I was searching for what I hoped to be sunbelt vehicles. I concluded the best areas were AZ and CA, with San Diego being the best of the latter. In those two locations there were large numbers of vehicles to chose from and the competition seemed to keep the prices in line. Some times of the year were better than others and I thought spring was the most prolific. One other area I noted was around Reno NV and the surrounding area, some very interesting bargains seemed to be available there, at least at that time.

hth
