On my low top Ford conversion top, the ceiling is roughly 16+ inches wide by over over 60+ inches long, and divided by a center wooden panel for ceiling lights.

The idea came to me to do something with the blank ceiling area. Why not decorate it? I found this website that has various images (eg: beach & ocean scenes, etc) that you can stick onto a wall. The website calls it "Wall Peels" that has a sticky back to the image. Only problem is that it may not be sticky enough to stick to the ceiling of my van which is made of some type of fabric material. I believe I can insert part of the decal into the grooves of the center wooden panel, if that makes sense (hard to describe in words). I can also use double-sided sticky tape to the ends of the decal to further help the decal to stick to the ceiling.

Anyway, if I'm able to make this work, here are some of my favorite beach and ocean scenes from this GreatBigCanvas website. Prices go for around $60 each for an adhesive Wall Peel. Let me know what you think.

http://www.greatbigcanvas.com/view/...AFTQGefmfXzOUQVV78d6Xes36Q6rKqv1Wf5LLzCFnjCLg

http://www.greatbigcanvas.com/view/...FHB4m6l3ni1xtG2CosWDrBL8JpmQVWy2G7KCNBCjWn1bw

I also found another similar website called CafePress that sells the same type of thing, see link below for adhesive wall decals. Prices for this site appears to cost less at around $25 each.

http://www.cafepress.com/+beach-oce...als?&_suid=136802524517109990381997087256

Here is a picture of the ceiling of my van to get an idea of placement of the artwork, see attached picture. I'm thinking of placing 2 different pictures to the left and right sides of the ceiling.

It looks fun to me but I recall somewhere on this site a problem with adhesive velcro melting from the heat in deserts. I wonder if this adhesive can handle heat. Any one else remember this?
Another question, does anyone in the hot areas have add on decals on their vehicles that melt off?

Those pictures are not stereotypical van dude enough. You need at the least a wolf, an eagle, and a ninja sword worked in there somewhere

Here's an update. I finally settled on the one picture I really liked best and installed it to the ceiling of my van. See attached picture of the decal print.

This is where I ordered the picture, see link below from GreatBigCanvas.com. I also went to Michael's art store to buy strong double stick tape to make sure the print stayed stuck to the ceiling. The top center of my ceiling has a wooden panel strip, and lots of soft fabric because my van was built as a conversion van.

http://www.greatbigcanvas.com/view/...AFTQGefmfXzOUQVV78d6Xes36Q6rKqv1Wf5LLzCFnjCLg

Since the adhesive decal doesn't like to stick on the fabric surface, that's why I had to use double stick tape all around the edges of the print. I also added some USB powered LED amber colored soft light strips to the top of my ceiling, and the amber lights help to accentuate the same golden glow of the below sunset picture. I got the amber colored LED light strips from Auto Zone store.

By the way, I also ordered some different adhesive decal prints from another company called CafePress.com. The items are lower priced at CafePress.com versus GreatBigCanvas.com. I returned the decals from CafePress because it was truly inferior quality as the prints were very poor in image quality due to obvious pixelation. I would say to avoid CafePress for adhesive decal prints.

Nice..i like your monkeys too

Thanks! I got the hanging monkeys for $5 each at a local zoo, haha!

ha ha when I first saw this I thought, the sistine chapel of vans. guess not. highdesertranger

No, no chapel pictures. I live near the beach, and frequently go to the beach. I want to one day retire near the beach. That's why I have a beach sunset picture on my van ceiling now, haha! Makes for sweet dreams!

I love the beach scene! The ceiling of my bus was dreary and boring, but has a great skylight. I took some tig rod, bent it in a semi circle, and threaded a bunch of my lampwork beads on it, the stuck it in the skylight. PRETTY, especially when the sun shines through it.

Thanks CrossCountryGal,

By the way, here's an update. The double stick tape didn't work too well, as the decal print kept falling as it wouldn't stick to the fabric of the ceiling. So I went to a local hardware store and found some short length black color thumb tacks. I stuck thumb tacks all around the decal edges, and now it's very secure. I also got 2 strips of 12" soft amber color LED lights powered by 12 volts, and added the 2 strips along the sides of the center of the ceiling outside of the decal print. The warm amber light accents the golden glow of the sunset ocean picture! I got the LED lights from an Auto Zone store.

Check out the attached picture.

Casey
