Opinions from those who have one, how much energy do they use in a day?

98% sure the compressor draws 3.5 Amps. Multiply by the duty cycle you expect for a location and season and time of day and you will get a workable figure.

Drastically varies according to the temp differential and other factors.

Usually between 20 and 45AH per day.

0.7 to 2.0 ah but not only quite a range but no other info on what the effects are of outside ambient temps. That's why I asked for owner experiences. Practical experience in this case trumps specs.

Thanks. I can work with that information.

Venting the hot zone and adding insulation helps.

Yeah the ventilation is going to decide where I can put it. I'm thinking the bed of my truck will be the place because the cab would be too close quarters for ventilation and possible noise issues.

A little context would help; what size is your ARB fridge, at what temperature setting, fridge full or empty, and what ambient temps for those Ah results, and how did you measure the power consumption?

so for a 30% duty cycle it would be, .21 to .6Ah. the range is because of the ambient air temp and how cold you have it set at. highdesertranger

How full it is, how often opened, are additions pre-chilled etc etc

That's a tough one, so many things come into play when you are working on refrigeration. Mainly you have to look into the temperature in the area and how cold you need to set the unit. Also depending on your budget, go with the better brands they have a proven record and have warranties
The fridge/freezer combos are excellent
Just get the right size for your need's

It is going to be very hard to estimate without actually using it. I will give you some examples from my personal experience with a 42qt Whynter for an idea

When set to 0 degrees, and freshly restocked with food from the store that requires freezing, it can easily use 60 AH of power over 24hours when the ambient temp is around 80 degrees.

When it is set to 33 degrees and everything inside is already cool and ambient temps are in the 70s, it can use as little as 15 Ah over 24hours.

If it is set to 33 degrees and full of drinks and gets opened constantly grabbing new drinks/ refreshing more drinks, it can also burn 40-70 AH over 24 hours.

In general if it is well ventilated, somewhat cool and used as a refrigerator (not freezer) the power draw on the 12v compressor fridges is fairly low (maybe 15 AH)AH. If set to 0 degrees they use 2 to 3 times more power depending on outside temp (30-45 ah for me) under normal usage. If I want to be more frugal with the freezer I initially set it to 0 when restocking, then dial it back to 10 degrees after everything is frozen well.

The ambient temps make a huge difference as well as the setpoint.

15AH per 24hrs just won't happen when killer hot out with food-safe fridge temps.
