Jack,
Rob got in a pinch with his fridge twice, once in the Fleury motorhome and once with his Fleetwood trailer. Both times he chose to use a bar fridge.
A friend of his kindly gifted him a brand new Danby bar fridge for the Fleury, when he moved into the Fleetwood, it had a fridge and we moved the Danby to my other Prowler because the fridge in it quit. Then Rob's Fleetwood fridge quit. Friend Mark gave us another older Danby bar fridge. It only lasted a year. So Rob's now 15 year old original Danby that was bought for the Fleury is in the Fleetwood. We had our electrician check the draw from it when we were trying to figure out WHY our power bill was so high and its fine, minimal draw.
Trailer never goes anywhere so it doesn't get shaken around or bounced like a fridge in a mobile unit would. Only glitch it has is if you store things near the back of it, they freeze.
So, for a parked unit like we have here (3 of them) a bar fridge is fine, but I would not put one in a mobile unit. If my Dometic dies I have several 12 volt coolers the hoarder left behind that we have to fix and my Koolatron (very old but working) needs a new hinge and lid latch, which we'll fix.
So there's my opinion
