Hey guys,

I have got Island Fever and will be taking a little time off next year to travel the usa, which could translate into full timing it. I plan to make the transition after the end of January or close thereafter (waiting for tax return).

My question would probably be, how realistic would it be to say I could convert either a sprinter or chevy express van within 1 month of purchase?

I will be pretty much doing it full time and have access to every tool I need from my pops in socal, I am very technical and between me and my dad, we can wire and customize pretty much anything.

What kind of experience have you had dealing with either type of van? I am about 6'2 and will have my gf with me, standing up would be nice, although we plan on doing as many outside adventures as possible so it might not be a make it or break it situation.

I am a web developer, so I will need some sort of desk space, plus we will be hauling a massage table and larger tent/canopy set up for my gf to do on the road massages for gas money(she is a massage therapist).

Toilet a must, i eat a lot of fiber, outside shower would be fine but a inside shower would be nice of course.

Anyhow, thats just a short descriptions of our needs, some of the fluff would be great but I think a lot of stuff can be added as we go. I will be bringing along enough tools to work on it as we go.

Hi Eman! Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

I think a month is more than enough time to get a rig road ready. You don't HAVE to do everything at once. The necessities would be a potty of some sort and a bed. After that, it's all up to you.

I have seen some pretty nice makeovers take place in less than a day.

Thank you Cyndi, I think the essentials, plus a few comforts of home are what we are looking for. I'll probably have a game plan mapped out before even purchasing, SO hopefully I can put it together quickly and relax with family and friends a little bit before the trip.
