This appears to be just backbone stuff to feed providers terrestrial towers for local access. This should make it economically feasible to install more cell towers as the link is from above and does not have to traverse mountain ranges with line of sight or fiber optic links.

I've had sat data plans in the past, you can get service anywhere but its so sloooooooooooooow...
