My class B already has a solar set up tied into the batteries going through a mppt comtroller, just that 50W is not enough to charge two grp 31 batteries. I'd like to add a portable set-up like Solar Blvd has (160W) which comes with the leads and solar controller to go directly to the battery.

Does adding solar like this seem acceptable, or are there any pitfalls I should be aware of given one system is already throwing charge to the batteries?

Seems to me both controllers would manage the battery charge levels and decrease current to the batteries as they near full charge.

Thanks.

Both controllers will see and adjust to the batterys voltage. The biggest thing is to set both controllers to the same settings for absorb and float.

This being primarily for the health of the batteries per manufactur specs, correct? I would think even if the initial is set at 14.4 on one system, that if the other system is only delivering 13.6 it is still receiving a charge.

It will work fine, I do it all the time, I do have the absorb and float voltages synchronized, but not absolutely necessary as MarkK said, just ideal.
