Hey everyone, Josh here. Happy to discover this place while planning for life on the road. Seems like a good starting point to begin making connections. Having turned 40 recently, I reflect upon my life as an entrepreneur and as a veteran. Now, looking towards the next great adventure in my life, I see the road and vastness of America as just that.

I will be driving around in a Hummer H3, and be setup for tent camping. My journey will begin around late April. I won't bore you with my planning details, suffice to say, it's all coming together nicely. I want to spend one month in each state I enter, bouncing between sites and exploring the world around them. I've been analytical for much of my life, and now I want to see how the creative side of me sees the world. Between traveling, photography, writing my first novel and possibly creating a vlog about my journey, are but some of the new and exciting life chapters to explore.

I am a deep thinker, and look forward to pondering the meaning of life, among other things, while looking up at the stars. I have become disillusioned with the current traditional lifestyle approach, and there is something appealing in the unknown. I don't know what the road holds for me, and I find it invigorating.

I look forward to seeing you all while on the road, or in the forums. In any case I believe as travelers we are always together when looking up at the stars.

Cheers

Welcome to the CRVL forums Josh! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hey Josh welcome to the forum and a special thanks for your service.

Welcome to the CRVL Forum  :)

A great place to start your entrepreneurial journey on the road.   Today many people are learning to work SOHO jobs/businesses from their rigs in this time of Covid.

As you travel in the coming years to all of the states you will see things that you may want to photograph, take notes on, and consider how they could work if introduced to another place that doesn't have these goods or services.  We have a board here "As Seen On The Road" that sort of serves as an idea platform where members share photos of unique approaches to rigs to dwell within.

There is also a thread in Off Topic Chit Chat regarding "Education & Skills needed to work from your Van".  Entrepreneurship hasn't been addressed there yet but you are welcome to share ideas in it.I think Entrepreneurship may be rebounding as more and more people are now learning the skills of working remotely/online.  One of an Entrepreneur's greatest challenges next to finding venture capital is finding people with the needed skills and talent to employ.

In the meanwhile there are a couple of links below you may want to check out.  The first is for setting up a basic starter rig and the second is a portal of useful info to pre plan your journey or refer to once on the road.  They are all free.

So all the best to you.  We need more entrepreneurs creating jobs and growth now more than ever
and in the aftermath of Covid there should be plenty of opportunity.  Online entrepreneurism may be a great place to start. (so you don't have a bunch of investment in sticks & bricks "things")

I think that is a job you can do on the road or at home. HDR will jump them any second then maybe we will know for sure! Lol!!! I’m guessing Southern Ohio Human Opportunity! Lol!!!

:p  Southern Ohio Human Opportunity,  yeah

SOHO is a term remote workers have been using for some time now.  It stands for Small Office - Home Office.  One's rig could be a SOHO for the "Digital Nomads" who are working from their rigs as they travel or from camp.  Some will work jobs as employees and others as small business people.

Some 12 million people may be looking for remote working jobs as the unemployment benefits package hasn't as yet been signed.

Here I thought Soho was the yuppie capital of New York City. Been there done that.

:p   Oh that SoHo.   It was in Manhattan and bore some similarities with small biz establishments offices,  but was more about artist & art galleries or fashion & design.  It was more about it's location.
