I am more than 2 weeks now into van living.<div>I just bought a new laptop with what I saved on apartment rentals.</div><div><br></div><div>When I first got into this, my laptop broke. I dithered whether to get a laptop or an ipad... and you know what? Who'd have thought I realized I could just get BOTH?</div><div><br></div><div>Without rent or a mortgage, suddenly, so much money is freed up! Can you imagine! I was hog wild with giddiness with this realization!</div><div>I can buy an ipad EVERY month if I wanted to with the savings I was making.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>of course, I won't do that... but man... I have been eating out more... enjoying better food... having more margaritas every night. THIS IS FANTASTIC!</div><div><br></div><div>I cannot wait again next month what I will spend some of my paycheck on...</div><div>I already saved 500 dollars this month. Imagine saving that amount every month and still having enough money to go eat out and buy computer things!&nbsp;</div><div>And all it needed was for me to adjust my own head as to where I sleep at night.</div><div>Honestly, it feels so normal two weeks in, I am now making plans to get another, bigger vehicle so I can stuff more things into it and do real cooking inside.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>

<P>I love hearing this!</P>

<P>Woohoooooo!!!!&nbsp; <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></P>

<p style="margin: 0px;">Rod,</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">I'm happy for you!</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">I just revisited your blog to once again see your van setup; looks cozy and will get even better as you go.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Go light on the Margaritas, and get plenty of exercise. </p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Speaking from experience ... "If I knew I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.". </p>

<p style="margin: 0px;">Yipeee yiiiiiii Yayyyyyyyy Margaritas!&nbsp; I don't have a mortgage, I bought a foreclosure and paid for it BUT..... 215 a month taxes, 15 trash and water services, even though I have a well? That means water runoff fee? Whatever that means. Average level billing power 115 a month. And so forth. After all is paid out, about 700 if I don't eat or buy gas or pay vehicle ins.,cell phone, wireless etc.&nbsp; </p><p style="margin: 0px;">Yes, thank you for the reminder of what I am working towards&nbsp;Ronin.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;"><b><font color="#ff00ff" size="4">Dragonfly</font></b>&nbsp;</p>

Congrats bro! Glad to read you're making the dream work for you!<div><br></div>

<EM>"...I just revisited your blog to once again see your van setup...."</EM><br><EM></EM>&nbsp;<br>There's a blog?????<br>

Oh man... You're killing me (very envious). &nbsp; Now, open up a scottrade and start buying shares of DNDN, BVTI and ACTC. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>I bought DNDN in the 2's and 3's, sold half when dndn got approved at 55 bucks. &nbsp;Due to a reimbursement (now fixed) issue, the stock recently has gone down to 8 (hedgefunds loading up), at which time I re-stocked. Earnings are Nov 2nd, and I bet it will be in the teens, and by the summer, back to the 40's. &nbsp; It's a prime buy-out candidate. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>ACTC is conducting stem cell macular&nbsp;degeneration (most common cause of elderly blindness) trials in people (100% success in rats...lol), and they own the ONLY patent for obtaining stem cells from Embryos, without harming it. &nbsp;Embryo stem cells can make themselves into anything... Other stem cells are more specific oriented. &nbsp;Yesterday, I read that Europe banned companies from harming embryos, which leaves the ONLY door open to ACTC. &nbsp;Great stuff... &nbsp;Been holding since 9 cents.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>BVTI is a mini-dndn in the process (for NHL non-hodgkins lymphoma)... Been holding since 16 cents (some some at 1.80).&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Sorry for rambling... But, the reason I'm building my van (and 4x4 trailer) is to do what you'red doing, and in the process, be able to put my money into stocks, and not a mortgage, bills etc... Also, to escape from my stage-5 clinging g/f... &nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/crazy.gif">&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Once I get a satellite phone with internet (already have direct tv set up), my life will be set <img src="/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></div><div><br></div><div>Seriously consider the above stocks. &nbsp;I've been doing this for years, along with my cancer scientist brother, who owns several of his own patents...&nbsp;<br><div><br></div><div>Glad you're having fun, brother... &nbsp; It's what life is all about.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>AJ</div></div>

<p style="margin: 0px;"><b>@AJ&nbsp; thanks for the tips, I have&nbsp; my last rental on land contract, suppose to close Feb 2012, none to soon.&nbsp; Wish I could act on some of this now.</b></p><p style="margin: 0px;"><b></b>&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;"><b>@Rod&nbsp; nice blog you are setting up, will look foward to seeing more.</b></p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;"><font color="#00ffff" size="4"><b>Dragonfly</b></font></p>

D-Fly...<div><br></div><div>I haven't checked, but Scottrade used to give a free 100 bucks to start with. &nbsp;ACTC at .14 is a steal. &nbsp; You could get 700 shares, and if the trials are working (which I think they are), it will see 1- 3 bucks rather quickly. &nbsp; That 100 just went to 2100... &nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif"></div><div><br></div><div>BVTI at 38 is also a steal. You could get a bunch of those.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I also have E-Trade, but their layout sucks, and are more expensive than Scottrade.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Congrats, and man I cannot wait to be in your shoes! I need a dang job so I can even get the van though <img src="/images/boards/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> Trying my darnest to find work to get this project on the road (pun intended) But my plan is to definitely start investing with all the money I'll be saving.
