Started up the Roadtrek (1999 Dodge 3500 Maxi van) this morning and cranked up the dash AC, it was nice a cold.  On the way over to the dealer in Orlando, after about 20 minutes the dash AC stopped blowing cold air, it blew humid regular air.  Shut it off for 30 minutes or so then decided to try it again, blew nice and cold for about 20 minutes and quit again.

The previous owner indicated she'd had the freon recharged last year, but I didn't think that was playing into this since it went cold-warm-cold in a hour and a half of drive time.

Any thoughts?

Was the engine running hot? Did the Condenser fan stop working? Low Freon is possible, but there could be air or other contaminants in the system. Where are you at in Orlando? I am currently in Orlando.

most likely low on Freon. you need to see if your compressor kicks off when it does this. a simply AC diagnosis will tell you if it's low. highdesertranger

I have a 2006 Ranger...if I run the AC on Max it will freeze me out.

If I run it on low it will blow cold air for a few minutes then blow hot.

My problem I know is the Heater Control Valve....can this possibly be a cause?

Hope that's it, thanks!

No, engine was running just fine.  I dropped it off at Leisure Time RV in Winter Garden, I'm over in New Smyrna.

My guess is the A/C coil (condenser?) inside the cab is icing up.  When the ice forms, no air can pass through the coils cooling the air.  Try adding a little warm air using the temp control instead of turning the fan all the way down.  I have had this happen and the system was a little low on freon.   When it gets lower, you get the problem Queen is experiencing.  YMMV

So, does freon just leak out of older things, or is there something that can be repaired so it doesn't keep happening? Living in FL AC is pretty important, so I don't mind getting a permanent fix.

it can be repaired. however the one thing that is guaranteed with AC is that eventually they will all leak. highdesertranger

There are hoses, connections and seals containing the freon in the system.  A good A/C shop will have a leak detector and can tell where the leak is.  It sounds like a small one if it was serviced last year and it is still somewhat working this year.  If it is really small, they may have  to inject dye to see where it is leaking.  If I remember correctly, the Roadtrek has been sitting for quite some time.  A seal may have dried out with all that sitting and not being exercised.

That's funny. I just interviewed with them, but decided not to take the job. LOL

I wish you had taken a job, they're so backed up they can't even look at it for two weeks. Oh well, at least the black water tank is leaking poopy water all over their lot instead of mine. LOL

Thanks so much for the offer, but it's already locked up over on leisure time lot, and we're back in New Smyrna Beach.
