An acquaintance of mine is on his 2nd he bought new. Its approaching 500K and it only has gone thru the typical.... fuel pumps, injector spider, alternators etc.

He and I had been talking about mpgs on and off and we both concluded that Astros fuel economy jumps up once you get at least 250k on them... not sure why, but both of us had routine findings of 25-26mpg on the road.... only highs of 20 prior to that.

My 410K had more life in it, but the front driveshaft was starting to really vibrate and I was not going to spend any money on her at that point. I sold it to a kid for $500, he bought a junk yard shaft from somewhere and drove it another season until the fuel pump quit on him.

The amazing thing is how well they were balanced for traction. I've had a few 4wd's in my day, but the AWD Astro's won me over.

That price of $7100 is kind of typical in my area..... the '05 being the last year available, and dealers seem to think that they will find a guy like me who just can't give the Astro up (even though I have).

The next scratch I itch though,,,, I would sure like it to be an AWD full size chev van with a 5.3L.

BTW, there are a lot of full size chev vans around here that have over 500k on them... the run em up and down the interstate day in and day out hauling overnight deliverys between Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
