My Dodge Campervan is for sale. (Denver or Phoenix) SOLD!

I converted a 2000 Dodge 2500 in 2015, and have lived/traveled in it off and on since then. I'm moving to Asia for an indefinite amount of time, and when I come back, expect to live in a normal house, so,.. not much use for the van any more. It's currently in Portland, but mainly available for...

How to screw celing panels into ribs without damaging wires inside the rib?

Thanks for the input folks. Here's what I'm planning to do. (note again that the wires are already inside the ribs so to take them out and attach along the ribs would be extra work, and also might interfere with the metal bands I will use to make springs for extra support holding up the...

How to screw celing panels into ribs without damaging wires inside the rib?

Ok, I'm converting a Promaster for my mom. I've ran wires. There are quite a few going through the ceiling ribs. I'd prefer, if possible, to keep these wire runs up in the ribs as they are nicely out of the way. Now, I want to install ceiling panels. I've expected to use metal screws to...

    Penetrating van roofs

Just a heads up, and a bump to a very good old post: myers hubs and cord grippers are sold in big box hardware stores. I just bought some at a Lowes. If you're using 10AWG cables, they'll be too small for the smallest size of hub/cord gripper (1/2"). 6AWG fits for sure in that. 8 probably...

    Demystifying the Urban Stealth Legend

I've lived in my van for about 550 days now and have spend, I'd guess, at least 200 nights in towns and cities. I've never had any real problems. I've had the cops come knock I think 4 times. For 3 of those, I was being lazy/daring compared to what I normally did (and didn't really care if the...

    FALCON'S ODYSSEY

So I've been hanging out in Southern California the last two months (sans the week in Toronto). I've been having a great time. I've spent most of my time in Santa Barbara, Encinitas, and now I'm in San Diego. NEW BLOG POSTS: I’d been testing out having a Patreon account and making some...

Is it better to work night shift?

Yes. The switching really makes it horrible for people. I worked nights for about a year and I never switched. I stayed on the same sleep pattern, even trough most holiday breaks and such. My coworkers who would try to switch to sort of normal sleep/wake times each weekend would come in a...

Is it better to work night shift?

I'd consider this within the category of basic health knowledge. I'm sure if you do some searching you will find studies. I'm not going to do it for you. (I don't mean to be or sound flippant here) (I did also work night shifts for about a year and found my own personal impact on...

Is it better to work night shift?

It's quite bad for your health to stay up all night and sleep during the day. I don't recommend it.

Buy pre-wired LEDs, don't do the dyi/Superbrightleds.com thing

Yeah the strips I used were not the milti-colored ones, so it was just two wires to solder per connection. I could see that being (very) hard to solder if you have to connect 5 wires, depending on how the connection points are arranged.

LADIES. Please Help. Color Scheme. My CT

ahem.... men can understand colors too. In short, the turqouise is the better choice for most of your ceiling options. But it depends... For the wood, the turquoise would compliment a brown ceiling, while the gold one would be more monochromatic. (teal and orange/brown are complimentary...

Limited slip diff or air locker?

I'd think the main downsides of an air locker are the cost and increased complexity (the locker itself, an air compressor, lines, switch, etc.). I've had a lunchbox locker in my van for a year and a half and I love it. I've found it easy to drive with it without causing problems going around...

Buy pre-wired LEDs, don't do the dyi/Superbrightleds.com thing

huh.... I bought LED light strips from SuperbrightLEDS. All I had to do was cut them to length, solder the wires on, and turn them on. (I also used a dimmer switch, and I'm extremely glad I did.) They were super easy. I'm not a trained electrician - not even remotely close. I can't recall how...
