Questions about pulling a small Aliner with a mini van

In my case the brakes were already on the trailer and I bought the controller myself on Amazon (and it was cheap!) so it was a $100 install job. Ray

Questions about pulling a small Aliner with a mini van

It was a 4 cylinder. The mileage loss is pretty typical when towing. Even big trucks lose quite a bit of mpg hauling their trailers! Ray

Refilling Coleman bottles from a 5 pound tank?

Refilling Coleman bottles from a 5 pound tank?

I can vouch for this too -- I have this and it's great, plus it serves well as a backup should my regular 20lb tank empty out. Saved my bacon a few times when I needed my morning coffee! Ray

Questions about pulling a small Aliner with a mini van

I imagine this is somewhat relevant -- for several years I've towed a 13' Scamp with my 4 cyl. 2006 Toyota RAV4 whose towing capacity was 1,500. The camper is 1,200lbs dry so add a few hundred on top of that. You can see both in my profile photo. Had no issues and it towed nice and smooth even...

    Happy Thanksgiving 2023!

Whoops I missed this one and posted Happy Thanksgiving in another thread. Apologies and I hope yawl's day went well and stuffed. Ray

Happy Thanksgiving, esp. to solo nomads

Just wanted to wish all a Happy Thanksgiving especially to those of you traveling solo. We are never alone in this journey. Hope to run into some of you one day. Forever wandering, Ray

    What are you doing today?!

Beautiful! Here's a sunset shot out of my camper door of the Salton Sea below. If it helps any, we lost our star QB too so it'll be a battle of backups. Still, FSU has the odds ever in their favor this go 'round. Ray

    Just saying hello

Welcome! Curious, which BLM Scenic Byways trip are you referring to? I wasn't aware there were such things. Thanks, Ray

    What are you doing today?!

Kofa is beautiful, it's where I like to stay when near Quartzsite away from the crowds. Salton Sea area also, but it's been a few years since I've been there. The sunsets are phenomenal over the sea. BTW, Gator fan here. Not quite our year yet in football but we're very young with lots of...

    Well dang...

Wowsers! Love that idea, reminds me of another camper that doubles as a boat in the water. Can't remember the name of it... Ray

    Well dang...

Happy to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you : ) Ayup, even today some folk are still learning about this sort of lifestyle and are often shocked when I tell them I live in my camper by choice. Thanks for the welcome! : ) Ray

Okay now that is tiny LOL! I was going by what came up on Google search: That's what I get for assuming, of course. Still, your camper looks to be bigger than quite a few tear drops I've seen. Love the weight -- it makes it so much easier to haul around. My Scamp's dry weight is 1,200 which...

Bull, I replied to your message but it's not showing here. I'm guessing it's in a moderator queue since I included a link to my set-up. Hopefully it'll show up soon. Thanks for the heads up on the Fiberglass RV forum -- forgot about that one. Those Trails Wests look great, nice and roomy...

    Well dang...

Thanks, Bullfrog! The first few years I started with my trusty 2006 RAV4 (with 130k miles!) 4 cylinder automatic and it did great hauling the Scamp over and around everything including some steep mountains. The mileage dropped to low teens on average. The last couple years I upgraded to a 2013...

    Well dang...

...just realized even though I registered here back in 2015 I never introduced myself. That's what I get for lurking. I've been full-timing since 2016 in a 13' Scamp and very much enjoying it. I'd be happy to share any advice on tiny camping (off the grid too) -- it's so worth it. If you're...
