Does anyone still make & sell 'old style' convective RV furnaces?

I have a Suburban RV propane heater that draws very little current, But I miss the old gravity type furnaces, as they required no power! While it is true that forced air furnaces(requiring power to a fan) are more efficient in terms of fuel, if you compare it to power draw, they lose! I think...

    Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless are quite efficient when it comes to propane consumption, they only use propane while hot water is being produced. Standard 6 gallon water tank system runs on thermostat to ensure you always have hot water, putting a power switch on a tank system allows you to turn it off when not in...

    Tankless Water Heaters

The big advantage to tankless is only heating water when you need it, but you can also minimize power consumption with a standard water heater. The big advantage to a standard tank heater is uniformity of water temperature, regardless of flow rate. Disadvantage of tankless, is figuring out flow...

An actual analysis of the cost difference between heating with Propane vs Diesel fuels

I'll disagree on two points, not to imply that I am correct and that you're not, but moreso to illustrate a different perspective. Currently where I am in Canada, price of diesel is approximately $1.30/litre, 3.7854 x1.30= $4.92/gallon. Multiply by 4.6 to get the equivalent of a #20 tank of...

    Box Truck Insurance

I'm in Canada, so different insurance companies here, but nevertheless the same principle seems to apply, as Matlock stated, It is a "commercial vehicle for personal use", This is what I had to do also. I know here we have a handful of insurance companies that will do this.

Dometic only runs off solar not Battle borns?

"Plugged in, I get 14.6. In solar, 13.4 at high noon." That is simply the charging voltage, not the actual voltage of the battery "It seems like I should figure out a way to plug the fridge directly into the inverter, yes?" The inverter will add a bit of loss to the system, so the fridge would...

Dometic only runs off solar not Battle borns?

if the batteries are properly connected, they will both charge unless one of them is real bad, however that would mean you would not get the voltage you are reading. so the only way one battery only is getting charged would be they are not connected properly. can you get pics of the batteries...

Dometic only runs off solar not Battle borns?

can you see the connections to the batteries? can you take a pic and post it here? you think maybe only one battery is being charged? a good pic of the batteries and how they are connected would help to determine what might be going on

Dometic only runs off solar not Battle borns?

So, to recap: 1- fridge runs off solar 2-fridge runs off vehicle alternator 3-fridge won't run off the batteries When you say that there is a voltage drop of around a volt or so when powering off the batteries, this is an indicator that your batteries are not capable of putting out enough...

Rain water leaks, need practical solution

As "thegoodtom1" mentioned, Proflex RV by Geocell comes in a tube(caulking) or in a can (pourable, brushable). I have used this product numerous times, it can even be applied in the rain. You can simply brush on thin layers over a leaky joint and build it up with multiple layers after each layer...
