Ideas for Making Money On The Road

I'm just embarking on a year-long work camping odyssey. A CLM job in the Mt Hood National Forest as a campground host (no cell coverage, the only thing they provide is water and a campsite; vault toilets); it's primitive, but it looks beautiful. 4 months of 30 hours a week at $9.25 an hour plus...

    Countdown

Well, a big hello to alla youse! It's Peter. I was at the last RTR (2015), helped with the cooking of the Chili and Soup dinners. A year later and I am already in my van, not quite on the road, but stealth camping around my home area (SF Bay Area). I just want to say thanks to all who gave me...

Thanks; battery (singular) is in a wooden box in the body of the van, battery hold down is screwed through 5/8" plywood and into the metal of the floor with #12 stainless self-tappers. Pics are out for the short term, but when I can, I will post them or a link to somewhere to look at them.

    Van Dimensions Sticky

Hi all, Mine's a 2010 Ford E-350, 5.4L V8. Best mileage so far around 15mpg, but averaging (around town, not on the road yet) about 13.6. 10 feet from rear doors to the back of the front seats. Bed across the back, built high for lots of storage underneath, window to window measurement is 70.5...

An update. The panels are on (440 watts) and the battery box is built, wiring will be (I hope) finished this week so I will have power. Bed is built, kitchen and more storage are waiting for the wiring to be finished. Off to LA next week for a shakedown cruise and my youngest nephew's wedding. I...

    Testing Waters

Welcome, maybe, to an interesting way to live. I am in the final stages of moving into my van (bigger, more stuff, but way smaller and way less expensive than a "land-locked" stationary sticks and bricks building!) May I suggest, although it's a long way, that you attend the RTR this coming...

    introduction

Yes, welcome. I'm new too, was at last year's RTR in a borrowed van; liked it so much I bought a van and am about half-way through the conversion. I am going to attempt to post some pictures. 440 watts on two solar panels, a 195 ah AGM battery, 45amp MPPT charge controller, etc. I am stoked. My...

Hey Jen and Ash!! Nice to see you! You were stalwarts, too. I couldn't have done any of it without you guys, Maggie, Sassy, and all those who pitched in. I'm just finding my way around in the forum. I am not used to a threaded system, so am stumbling around here and there. But in Real Life, I...

I'm on the road in two weeks! Bought an E-350, gutted it, will have bed platform and rough cabinet in place by Monday, solar is coming along. It will be a work in progress once I am out of my sticks and bricks place, I am figuring to work a little and to continue to outfit and adjust the...

Well, it's been about 5 months since I posted. I'm still above ground! Thanks for all the kind words, and a big thanks to Bob who has been an inspiration and guide to all. I hit a few financial snags, but now have a timetable for getting onto the road-2 months from now I *have* to be out of my...

Yup, it's me. I accept the obligation and thank you both, and everyone who participated in this year's RTR, for the warm reception and support you gave me.

Hi all, I'm Peter, I was at the recent (2015) RTR. I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting other like-minded folks! I am not full-timing as yet; I came because I discovered Bob's blog and really liked it and I saw the RTR as an opportunity to learn, discover, and experience what I found on...
