Have a van... not sure where to start

Several months ago I purchased a van, but it has just been sitting. I'm not really sure where to start... I want to have at least 600w of solar up top, have been looking at 6 of the Renogy 100w flexible panels, due to stealth factor and roof space (seems it will fit by my measurements)... as...

Solar output during non peak hours

Midwest - I am seeing 4.5 peak hours in my area. Just wondering roughly how much would be generated during non-peak sunlight hours - I.e. if I have a 100w panel how much can I expect out of it in non peak hours? 75%? 50%?

Solar output during non peak hours

How much energy, as a percentage of peak output, can one expect to generate during off peak sunlight - with the assumption that you're positioned well at all times?

Renting storage unit to charge 2nd set of batteries

I plan on ordering 3 of the LG 300w panels as I am wanting a 900w system

Renting storage unit to charge 2nd set of batteries

I recently got a van and would like to move in asap but need to have electric set up first. I can't afford the solar yet - but was thinking I could get 2 sets of batteries, rent a storage unit, and simply charge them at the storage unit and swap out as needed. This probably wouldn't work...

Looking at a van... has some damage

I am in the KC area. Is it this kind of jack? Seller would not take $600 for it, says $1,000 is as low as he will go. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Big-Red-4-Ton-Porta-Power-with-Carry-Case-T70401S/100595209 Looking at some other options now, maybe he will drop the price eventually.

Looking at a van... has some damage

I am unfamiliar with the "jack and block" method... what exactly does this entail? Is it something that you would need assistance to do?

Looking at a van... has some damage

I'm thinking of buying the thing anyway... for some weird reason I kind of like the thing or want to fix it... IDK why. Must have been the diesel engine and fact that it's extended... I think worst case scenario I could scrap the thing for almost what I paid for it, if I paid around $600-700 for...

Looking at a van... has some damage

Thanks - I am pretty sure I've decided against it. It's just too much work... it would be one thing if I knew how to fix these kind of things myself, but I don't. I found a much nicer looking one that appears to be well maintained from the photos... just have to save the money up.

Looking at a van... has some damage

How easy (or hard) do you think pushing out the top dent would be? Given that it's the 7.3 diesel is 265k still a lot for that engine?

Looking at a van... has some damage

Hi all, first I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to read my thread. I am looking at my first van and this particular van has piqued my interest because a) It's super cheap, only $1,000 (although it does have like 265,000 miles) b) It's extended length c) It's the 7.3 turbo diesel d)...

Solar Power... how much power can you fit?

Thank you. I am going to try and find out how much my energy needs would be. I'm in the Kansas City area & the map I saw is showing 4.5 hours of peak sunlight. How much less should one expect to generate during non peak sunlight assuming clear skies? I'm going to read the links now.

Solar Power... how much power can you fit?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am seriously thinking of doing this now... I think I'll want around 750 watts... but not sure if that could fit on a van. Possible that I could downgrade some things or make the computer more efficient. I am also interested if its possible to wire the system to...

Solar Power... how much power can you fit?

I am seriously thinking of living in a van, but it's going to be tough for me as I'm a person who has a constant need to stay 'connected' to the internet and such. Will it be possible to get a solar system set up that could generate enough power to support a desktop computer? I'd probably be...
