    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

Thank you for your reply! I read good things about Stow and Go for conversion purposes, but I am a bit leery of older Chryslers (or Dodges). Even if it is easier to find a place that fixes them, if you are in the middle of nowhere it's still a towing bill. Reading a bit more about...

Thanks folks for sharing your experiences and tips/tricks. I think we're pretty set on an Odyssey, now just playing the email price negotiation game until something clicks into place. Which brings me to the next point... A nice, good sized, front-accessible refrigerator with a good sized...

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

So yesterday we had a look at some Minivans. The Odyssey seems all around pretty nice. The WAF (wife approval factor) is fairly high, especially in silver color. While I prefer white for max heat reflection, it does look pretty good. Third row sinks into the floor... And when removed...

Good stuff, thanks much for sharing your setup! Using the car seats as a platform for a bed is tempting, since they are there, and are somewhat cushioned already. Going to look at some Minivans and see if it works the way I envision it. For power, I am using a 1200Wh Power Station. Works really...

    What are you reading?

Currently enjoying Richard Russo's Sully Series, looking forward to #3. I listen to audiobooks since I usually stare at computers for 10 hrs per day.

Thank you and maki2 for the tips. Sounds like there are issues that Honda would be interested to address. Perhaps disabling turning off the cylinders via a "VCM muffler" may be a good idea. About $1000-1200 to replace the OEM mounts, from what I can gather on the web. Not sure what you mean by...

Well hello from Central Coast California

Would have to dry it out well, but still better/easier than a regular tend that's been sitting in the mud! Here in Central California we're blessed and cursed with the absence of rainstorms for most of the year. ;)

Floor Plan, and stuff I WANT... Thinking about the best setup. Not planning for anything too permanent, I want to be able to adjust to my needs, improve over time... flexibility, you know? I think I want to remove the 3rd row bench, as well as the second row seat behind the driver. I want a...

Thank you for your thoughts on the Oddy. Hoping that newer models (21+) have that sagging problem licked, from a quick search I haven't seen complaints for more recent year models. My previous camper had basically NO ground clearance (3.5" before they lifted up the rear a bit to get to 5")...

Well hello from Central Coast California

Thank you, especially for the write-up in your first link. Very interesting. I have started a https://vanlivingforum.com/threads/mini-van-camper-conversion.50318/ tread, feel free to check out my (thought) process there! I am thinking more along the lines of a rooftop tent, with a possible...

    Things have changed.

I would say if you are looking to get a better grasp of the basics, even a 7 years old book will help. It's about $15, not that much in the overall scheme of things. Then, when you are ready to pull out the wallet, look at something more recent (youtube/forums).

Vehicle Choices As pointed out in the OP, I am shooting for something a size smaller than the usual Promaster/Sprinter/Transit to double as a regular car. In my search for the "smaller is better", most efficient vehicle with maximum inside space I zeroed in on Mini-Vans. They seem to provide...

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

Good suggestion, but the key point here would be a "converted" minivan which I don't think anyone rents out? I have a pretty good idea though, we have done tent camping out of a regular cars trunk, I have slept in station wagons, etc. When I do the conversion, I also want to keep it reversible...

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

It certainly strikes a great balance between size and drivability vs room and features, especially for two who enjoy camping. It's just that at this moment in our lives, it feels like it's a notch too big, and with a few compromises and adjusted expectations we can get the same utility out of a...

Well hello from Central Coast California

That is one of the four options I am looking at, and actually, one of the more likely ones. Besides teens being teens and sleeping most of the day, a RTT provides for sleeping area that benefits the available room below. Drawbacks, of course, there are quite a few - from falling down a ladder...

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

Please join & help me on my voyage to a camper-converted Mini-Van. After about 3 years owning a Class B camper I would like to downsize to a Mini-Van. We did enjoy the room and luxury of the RV. At this time, we are looking for something a bit more suitable as a daily driver. Perhaps once I...

Well hello from Central Coast California

So true! There can be large differences in expectations when it comes to sleeping comfort, bathroom amenities, etc. Important to be somewhat flexible and find solutions/compromises that work for everyone.

How much water do you use for showers?- survey

I had a shower in my Class B, but used it very rarely. Maybe 10 times over the 3 years I had it. It worked fine, but I was always worried about the moisture getting/staying somewhere and causing damages. I have a 5 gal solar shower bag that works fine in theory. Plenty of water even for 2...
