App's for using WIFI to conserve cell minutes

There are many VoIP providers. Zoom Phone, WhatsApp, Vonage, and Skype to name a few. Using them, essentially gives any phone two numbers: the VoIP number that is assigned and the number attached to the sim card. Thus there are two lines on one phone. Yes, I am ignoring dual sim card phones...

    Buying Land

What all the states in that video have in common is that they are cold. If I were to make a list of least populated places that Americans can freely move to, I'd start with these 4. The largest one has only a third of the population of Wyoming. What these have in common is a yearly average...

    Truck camper or rental

In my opinion, a van is best setup for a daily driver + camper. Its overkill when doing the former and not the most efficient use of space when doing the latter. But every setup involves compromise, and a van is the most flexible. With the right layout, it can carry people, cargo, and camper...

Hi, I have a lot to learn

It is not financially wise to use the proceeds from the sale of an appreciating asset to buy a depreciating asset. If keeping your house is an option, unless there are extenuating circumstances, you should probably do so. Selling your house will not make you free. Just ask any of the non...

2000 w power station and "widdle ol' " cigarette lighter?

A vehicle's auxiliary power outlet is a fine way to charge small power stations, it only becomes inadequate with larger power stations. As these units become increasingly more accessible, it's only recently become a problem for the masses. Bluetti and Ecoflow have created an easy to implement...

    Setting up my Cube

Using a tiny vehicle as a camper is much more common in Europe. Watching videos on YT of campers built on small chassis may give you some ideas that could be applied in the Cube. Here are some of the smaller vehicles: Peugeot Expert, Fiat Talento, Citroen Jumpy, Mercedes Vito, Toyota Proace.

    New to the life

I didn't comment on your initial post about quitting your job, selling your house, and moving into a vehicle. But here's my two cents. The why matters. If you're being pushed, that's one thing, if you're drunk on the van life Kool Aid pouring out of YT, that's another. Age matters. If you're 25...

NOCO Genius 10 Charger Failed Quick - Warranty Not Worth It - Recommendations?

I have no suggestions with regard to chargers. My advice is next time get an extended warranty. I usually buy 3rd party warranties to cover my products. For stuff purchased on Amazon, that's Asurion. I've filled half a dozen claims with them over the years and they've always handled it satisfactory.

    Hi, All,

Some sort of heat is necessary to be comfortable during the winter in most parts of the US. Diesel heaters are cheap and effective. Even a bare bones build can accommodate it. There is no reason to endure being cold, unless one enjoys that kind of thing. My $70 heater can keep my uninsulated...

    Gym vs no gym?

For me it's not either or, it's both. I use PF to workout, charge my power station, refill my Aquatainer, hangout when it's hot outside, and sometimes as an alternative to the toilet and shower in my van. I'm a 350-360 showers per year person... So every morning I start the day with a shower...

    hello there fellow trekkers!

I'm curious about why you're interested in the Axion. When it was introduced in 2017, it had a novel floor plan on an uncommon chassis. But nowadays, several RV manufactures have models on the Promaster 136 chassis using that floor plan as well as other variations. Like Winnebago's Solis Pocket...

    The Magic Sleeping Bag

I have no insight on the nuisances of down sleeping bags, but I have an alternative suggestion. A weighted blanket has therapeutic uses, but beyond that it's also very effective at trapping body heat. They're inexpensive and might be worth a try.

Running Van AC off solar generator?

Yep, I had one. But if I add in the cost of having to replace the starter battery in my vehicle after less than 2 years, because I prematurely aged it as a result of not knowing what I was doing, it was very costly. Skills matter, and one of the things you're paying for with EcoFlow's alternator...

Running Van AC off solar generator?

I'm not sure that I totally understand what you're trying to do. But I'll share some of my thoughts. First, I've owned three EcoFlow power stations and I think they're great. I have a Delta Pro in my van. The challenge with a large power station is how to recharge it. The vehicle cigarette...

    Dry Flush Toilets

If pooping on a newspaper works for you, have at it. I'm not in a competition to be the toughest, crudest, survivalist. I didn't like camping as a kid, and I'm certainly not trying to do it as an adult. I am an urban dweller. And I've been in too many nasty Walmart/gas station/rest area...

How much water do you use for showers?- survey

I don't need or aspire to be, an influencer. No companies are giving me anything gratis. I'm merely sharing my feelings and speaking about my experiences. My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it. In my opinion, the Geyser system is an ingenious solution to bathing with very little...

    Dry Flush Toilets

My current toilet setup is a bucket (lined with a garbage bag), enclosed in a wood box, that also serves as ottoman seating. Its cheap, simple- nothing to break, and has no smell. It works great 95% of the time. The only time it doesn't work so well, is after a poop deposit that can't be...

    Van Life & Air Conditioning

I'm not sure a UHaul is a good proxy... As a south FL resident, I will say unequivocally that air conditioning is essential to maintaining a comfortable temperature inside a van and there are no shortcuts. If you want something that's going work while boondocking (or urbandocking), there's no...

Here is Why You Must be INSANE to buy an RV These Days, Steve Lehto

Perhaps you're putting too much pressure on yourself. This doesn't have to be a big decision. You don't need to throw a lot of time or money at it in advance. Just get a vehicle, incorporate it into your life and see what emerges. This is what that looked like for me: I decided to replace my...
