Roof mounted + suitcase solar wiring

Thank you kindly! I am indeed considering installing SAE outlets on the outside.

Looking forward to the solitude, but I do sometimes have fantasies of gold prospecting as well.

    I love this. Thank you!

Roof mounted + suitcase solar wiring

Say I wanted 200w roof-mounted and a 200w freestanding suitcase that I could plug and play (perhaps with sidewall outlets installed). Would both arrays go through the same charge controller? And if so, how? Would I need some kind of MC4 splitter?

bullfrog: lol, sorry Cammalu, thanks, I'll check out the FB group. And if I go I for sure will be keeping my distance. Also, I wouldn't call myself a youngster as this point (I'm way older than you think) but you made me feel good!

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

highdesertranger, is there such a thing as a cheap used rv without leak issues? At least this was ostensibly taken care of so I wouldn't inevitably have to strip whatever I decide to buy. Maybe it's time to hit the dealers, I wonder if they're buying them all up because the pickings are slim...

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I'm still looking. It's just very hard the find the layout I want (rear louge with three panoramic windows), that is not from the 70s (although they sure looked better back then) and isn't over 24'.

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

For sure. She had the cabover replaced due to leakage, and it looks a little weird on the outside (like paper?) so I did ask her about that (via email, waiting on response). It looked really clean in a video tour. But when I get an inspector in I'll definitely have them look. It's a long...

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I did just email an rv salvage near me. Seems like dealing with a tarp won't be that much of a big deal until I can find one. An 18' one was just listed on fb marketplace for like $350 near me, used once. Too bad I don't have the rv yet and don't know if it's the right width! Sent from my...

I'd love to know more about this artsy rtr! I'm looking at a 1993 Tioga Arro 24'. I have looked far and wide for an rv not from the 70s (though I really dig the 70s stuff, just don't want to deal with maintaining something so old) that has the three window panoramic lounge area in the back that...

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I'm thinking if the rv I'm buying at least has an awning rail (I can't tell from the pictures, the rv is in another state, does it look like there's one to you? I see something up there, anyway). I can slide in some awning clips or hooks or make diy ones like this guy did, and just settle for a...

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I like that idea, too. But how to do that in the barren desert? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I mean having to use a ladder everytime I want to roll out or up the tarp, not for the initial installation. But maybe I'm better off just calling rv salvage yards and hope to luck out on a cheap working rv awning? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I'd rather have a manual crank one anyway, I hear the motorized ones just cause problems. But thanks for the heads up! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

Oy, I would never leave any awning unattended! But yes, I was wondering about the structural integrity of these things, or if it could be mounted in such a way that it's not any more of a safety hazard than a regular rv awning. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I would do that, but I don't want to have to carry a ladder or stake something to the ground if I don't have to (although the latter isn't a huge deal I guess). And a manual roll-up system might be a mess as a solo person. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Off grid music, art and solitude

Hello, I'm a solo female of color who has been seriously daydreaming about rv living for well over a decade. I'm an introvert and over-thinker who often finds herself hiding away in my room when living with others. I'm like a cat who likes the safety of a cardboard box, but I don't want my box...

$250 awning instead of $1k awning?

I'm about to maybe buy a 24' class c, but it does not have an awning. Is there any reason I cannot mount one of these $2-300 house awnings? Because I'm not about to put down $1k for an RV specific one.  Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
