Article w/ Bob Wells in today's Guardian

I started my planning last year. I knew about this lifestyle and did quite a bit of research. With a seemingly collapsing life around me, I have decided to start the journey. Halfway through, I see the trailer for Vagabondland and thought, crap! This is bad timing. As with the economy in the...

    Nomadland wins best picture award...

I'm curious if anybody thinks this will attract an influx of Nomads. Some would stay, but I'm sure many would regret it. And with the way the economy and looming evictions, combined with fewer jobs available, this may be a viable option for too many people. Along with that will come more...

    gold mining

Interesting. Growing up in the Sacramento Valley, we have many gold bearing areas in the hills. I have helped friends with the deep dredge, fed by compressed air and warm water in the suit (it nice), and of course, countless times of just going out and picking rocks and panning to find small...

    Kratom on the road

Alcohol destroys and kills so many people every day of every year and yet cannabis was the devil's weed. Politics at it's best. Nobody ever got baked and shot everyone in their house. I'm sure it's the opposite. I'm sure some have been that angry, got baked and figured they'd just chill for a while.

    Camper tiedowns

How bout load binders? The solid steel clamps truckers use to clamp down their load. I used them on a heavy equipment job and if they can hold a backhoe on a trailer, they can hold your camper down for sure.

    May offer services

Yes, thank you. I plan on keeping the chop saw, sanders, impact driver, screw gun, etc., etc. I will have a pretty complete set for metal and wood. And if I do a toyhauler, I will separate the back with a heavy plastic curtain and get a fan pushing positive air pressure.

You have my attention. I have my eye on a Weekend Warrior in immaculate condition. They're asking $9800, I'll offer $9000. What do you have, what are you asking and where is it located. You can PM me. I would appreciate that.

    Sewing on the road

I say absolutely yes. I plan on bringing mine when I get mobile. Me thinks the more tools and skills you can offer, the better off you'll be for yourself and for making an extra buck.

Thank you for your response. Actually, electrical is one of my specialties with a degree in electrical engineering and most of that experience in semiconductor plants working on complex silicon crystal pullers used to manufacture pure silicon ingots for solar panels. Not saying I'm an expert in...

Thank you all for the kind support. So I'm leaning towards a toy hauler where I can separate the back half with a heavy tarp like curtain to keep dust from the living quarters to a minimum. I'm actually going to have to downsize my tool collection with a focus on this specific area. I should be...

    New comer, alone, afraid

Welcome aboard from one newbie to another. There is no shortage of answers here if you look. Pretty much ANY situation you find yourself in, you will find help and answers here for sure. About your toyhauler. I find once you get a few hours behind the wheel, it will seem much smaller than you...

Hey all, I have checked in here before, I've yet to launch my travels. I have started selling stuff out of my house and will probably not be able to join until perhaps this time next year. We shall see.  What I wanted to announce is, I will be looking for a trailer with living quarters and some...

    hatch lift

Yes, 30 lbs each. The more you have, the more they will lift. There are other methods as well that don't where out, like a torsion spring system. Probably harder to install, but only once.

Electronic key fobs used to steal vehicles?

Here's what I know about this. Today's FOBs are emitting a radio signal 24/7. That how the vehicle detects it and unlocks the door as you walk up. The car thieves of this caliber are organized and the vehicles are on their way to a shipping container on a ship within a day or two. They are using...

    Hello from Norcal

Thank you for your honest response. I'm not touchy about personal matters. How else can one examine the core issues without going deep? As for meds, been there. I think way too many docs are sponsored by these med companies and automatically push way too much of that stuff out there needlessly...

    Hello from Norcal

Thank you all for all the generous replies and suggestions. I have looked at the cargo trailer conversion option and love the all metal construction, but I have a tendency to start projects with great optimism and fail to finish if it gets too complicated (ADHD), and money is very tight right...

    Hello from Norcal

Hi, my first post on this forum, been following several of your travels on youtube and related sites. I'm getting to that point of throwing the towel in and going on the road for the foreseeable future.  Like many others, I have made some bad decisions, spent way to much money, don't really have...
