Tire options for 15 inch wheels (Chevy G20)

So I checked my owner's manual and it said to never go over 85 mph if you have 16 inch wheels, even if it is legal  Is this because the speedometer would be off? It's the only reason I can think of, but I'm by no means a mechanic. Also, I weighed my van and a scrap yard today. Total...

Tire options for 15 inch wheels (Chevy G20)

Thanks for the replies :) 16 inch tire upgrade was my fear. Thanks for the update PECDV2. I saw your thread from a year ago, nice to hear that they're still treating you well after 10K miles. However, why do you think they rub? Are they the stock size? while I was searching, I looked at one van...

Tire options for 15 inch wheels (Chevy G20)

Thanks all. I read your review from a year ago PECVD2, nice to hear they're But ugh. I suspected 16 inch wheels. I won't lie, I'm very tempted to go cheap now, mainly because I'll be doing mostly paved roads in a suburban environment for the next year.

Tire options for 15 inch wheels (Chevy G20)

I found a van and it needs new tires. Badly. It's a 1995 hightop G20, stock/current size is 225/75r15.  From my research, Standard Load light truck tires aren't good enough. Using trailer tires wouldn't be safe or have the right tread. But I can't find E or even D load range tires. The van I...

    Advice on a 2001 Express 1500 4.3L V6 with 50K miles for $7K?

Are half ton cargo vans really that flimsy? I know that people full time in minivans like Toyota Siennas and Astros. Are those better suited because passenger vans are made to carry people therefore a heavier load? Or are minivan builds pushing the limits? I don't plan to be full time, not all...

    Advice on a 2001 Express 1500 4.3L V6 with 50K miles for $7K?

I just test drove it. I'd get it inspected before purchase. It's been on the lot for 7 weeks so it can't be that great of a deal right? The price seems high and I'd try to negotiate down, but the miles are so much lower than everything else I'm seeing. It was purchased by a dealer in a fleet...

Just a gal starting over, looking for a van

I'll look into that, thank you! Right now I'm looking more at passenger vans from private sellers and it's slow going.

Just a gal starting over, looking for a van

Hi all! I've been lurking on your wonderful forum for a while now so I guess it's time to introduce myself. Thanks so much for the information you've all put together here, it's really been helpful as I search for my first van. I haven't found one yet, but it's winter in the Midwest so perhaps...
