Wandering Ways

I have been threatening for a while now to get this van thing happening, but every time I get a little closer to making it a reality, I head off in another direction. Currently in Indonesia, I've spent most of this last year in living in Nepal, but with money now getting tight it's back to...

    Van Bloggers

It heartens me to think our dumbness is valued. Now move over, that bed of delusions is very comfortable. (And don't steal the covers)

    Hello Cheap RV Living Folks!
Hi ya wes and welcome from another newbie. I'll be in a similar situation eventually where I won't have the financial ability to travel a great deal in a van, so I have identified numerous places like national parks that I can park up for free, these places being in nature, tranquil...

    Fabulous News!!!
WOW!!! How exciting for you, and how quickly things can change. I bet you didn't walk out of the dealership without this title firmly grasped in hand.

If Bella doesn't mind sharing the back...

    Mental Health Issues
Hi Joey - tt sure did wrap up pretty nicely what many of us dislike about the confines of city or suburban living. So well in fact I laughed out loud. She did nail it.

Hey mockturtle - Back at ya. Although I am often isolated both physically and psychologically from others, I...

LAUNDRY. A necessary Evil. How do you guys do it?
I travel light and do laundry pretty regularly but almost never at a laundromat. I've used wash basins in toilets, given small items a wash while having a shower, used buckets, lakes and streams(no detergents) even run off from roofs in a heavy rain.

    Mental Health Issues

Hey cyndi - Thanks for the links. I certainly find it much easier to deal with bouts of depression if I am not surrounded by the mayhem of congested living such as those described by tt in her post. Being able to work through these periods alone without the intrusive, though generally well...

    Mental Health Issues
A major contributing factor I believe as to why I prefer to be a loner and lead a nomadic life is the ability to withdraw from people whenever I have the the need or urge to do so, which is regularly, I've never really felt that comfortable around others for any extended lengths of time...

River Bill and a Perfect Idea

where_the_wind - Hi again, and thanks for dropping by. I recall another experience with a van that I shall put to paper shortly. It sure is easy to do it with such nice comments. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Van Bloggers

Hi where_the_wind - I've been considering using wordpress, but still trying to work my way through all the bits and pieces like plug ins etc. Oh for a brain that understands technical things like computers, battery volts, wats, amps....Sometimes I wish everything to be as simple as a hammer, a...

River Bill and a Perfect Idea

bk2 - Thanks for reading. I love reading people's accounts or stories of their travels, people they meet and places they go.

Hey tt - With any sort of luck you will have a few of your own stories about life as a nomad soon. Here's hoping.

yesican - That's Rae, very nice of...

    Van Bloggers

    Hi all,

One of the things I'm quite eager to undertake when I make the shift to full time vandwelling is blogging about it. I was wondering if anyone here currently blogs about their life on the road and if they would like to offer their blog site address on this page so I and any...

    From Austin Texas, howdy y'all

Hi Austin and welcome (I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, Austin boy I think)

They are all valid questions that I think most of us that live a nomadic lifestyle have had to consider one or most of them at some stage. Personally, I have no reference point for materialistic or financial security...

River Bill and a Perfect Idea

It started to rain heavily in the middle afternoon with a gusty westerly blowing hard into my face, and with my arms generating no more power offered to me than the river’s current, I decided to guide my kayak toward a sandy river bank, I would have to be...

    G'day

tt - How great for you to have had the realization, forced or otherwise, that there is other paths open to a content, happy or fulfilled life, other than a western conditioned belief that a lifetime of debt and work is the American/Australian dream we should all lust after. Sadly most don't even...

    G'day

Hey ttpadilla - Thanks for the welcome. It seems my cover is blown. I have the username of Hammockman on Indiamike where I kept a small journal/blog of my time in India during the first half of 2010. Or perhaps we have we bumped into each other somewhere else?

I have a...

    G'day

bk2 - Thanks for the welcome. I think we are all people with with the desire to "do our own thing", but societal, family, tradition and cultural expectation stifles that individuality as well as personal freedom. Those that choose the road less traveled (pun intended) are to be admired and...

    G'day

    Hi all,

I'm a 45 year old Aussie who is most grateful for the wealth of information the members of Cheaprvliving have offered up about living on the road. For the last five years I have found myself wondering in India, Nepal, Thailand and Cambodia, with me presently in Indonesia...
