Not totally sure what your layout is going to look like, but my general rule of thumb is put the fan above the bed. Gives me a nice breeze while im trying to sleep. Although I could also see an argument for putting above wherever you plan to cook (if you ever plan to cook indoors).

That really simplifies things, thanks! It's clear I was making this more complex than it needed to be lol  For the underlayment, does that go between the plywood and the laminate?Or between the plywood and the floor of the van itself?

Makes sense, thanks for the advice! Is there anything I can do to even out the floor before putting the plywood down? Or does that not really matter? I don't want my floor to flex or squeak too much if I can help it

What kind of booster do you use? Do you ever have any trouble finding a tower inthe distance to point at? My worry with a directional antenna is that if I cant see a tower I could have even worse signal than if I had just used an omnidirectional antenna
