    Insurance--I just don't get it

And this is why I am so baffled at the fact that this topic doesn't seem to get regularly discussed and doesn't even have a forum.

    Insurance--I just don't get it

But also, the thing is, at this point I've given up on trying to find full-timers coverage for a DIY van and am facing the fact that I can't even get regular coverage if they find out that I don't stay at the listed address. I was able to get them to renew my coverage by sending them some of my...

    Insurance--I just don't get it

When it's a DIY conversion, neither Progressive nor anyone else that I know of will insure it as an RV. So I guess yours was not a DIY. I am specifically talking about DIY conversion vans.

    Insurance--I just don't get it

I would love to know how others here are insuring the van which they live in full-time.  Progressive just sent me a non-renewal notice for not having my van regularly garaged at the listed address (my sister's house).  Periodically I have called around with zero luck to find insurance for DIY...

I did and they had no information.

    Full Coverage Insurance in Mexico

Hi all, not sure where this fits.  I just talked to someone at mexpro.com which offers full coverage on my van while driving it in Mexico, but only if I simultaneously maintain my domestic full coverage policy in the US.  They'll even cover the added value of my van modifications if I prove it...

    Recommend an Alcohol Stove Please!

Thanks all--I'll probably end up getting the one Maki recommended.

    Recommend an Alcohol Stove Please!

Thanks for all the input. The two reasons I was leaning toward alcohol are 1) I don't have space for a propane tank and 2) I don't want to be unable to find the fuel I need when traveling around Mexico and Central America. Denatured alcohol can be found at any hardware store in any...

    Recommend an Alcohol Stove Please!

Hi all, I wanted to get the Dometic Origo 1500 alcohol stove for my tiny Ford Transit Connect, but apparently none are available to be purchased.  Besides, after having just looked at tiny backpacking alcohol stoves, even the one-burner Origo 1500 is looking big and bulky for my amount of...

    Insurance for Camper Van

Hello all, so now that I've invested lots of time and work in making my Ford Transit Connect into a mini-camper, I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about having some kind of insurance on it all. I have regular insurance with Geico, but they won't offer a policy for a DIY camper or class B RV or...

    Faucet Recommendation?

Not sure what forum this fits in, but can someone point me to a single handle faucet similar to this one but which isn't so high up off the sink?  On this one, the water comes out at about 9 or 10 inches up from the base, which is way too high...

    Floor Vents

Great idea!  Funny enough, I just purchased one of these 6" boat screw type ports to install a cat door in the floorboard (as per the recommendation given on an older thread, with a baffle box and then a regular cat door to come into the main area, keeping bugs and other critters out).  But I...

    Floor Vents

Thanks for the replies and ideas everyone! I think I have a plan.

    Floor Vents

Has anyone here installed floor vents in their van, and if so, how did it turn out?  I'm looking to install at least 4-6 of them, in combination with the vent fan on the roof, to stay cool in the summer.  Looking for ideas.  I see that all the way in the back of my Ford Transit Connect, in the...

    How to seal a hole

Well it's fully on the passenger side of the van, where the black plastic wraps around the body, not to the rear.  And it is flat.  Also, it's pretty high up in there tucked behind the plastic splash cover that goes around the wheel well.  I'd post a picture but I'm not advanced enough to get...

    How to seal a hole

Just a rubber grommet.  No, it's not the access hole for the spare.  No idea what it's for.  Someone said some of the holes are from the factory painting process.  There's a few of them like this scattered throughout the van with nothing going through them.

    How to seal a hole

Hi all, this should be pretty straightforward.  I'm looking at where to install my shore power inlet and see that there is a perfect spot on the rear, passenger-side bumper.  Right there behind the bumper, there is a factory hole in the metal of the van through which I could pass my cable from...
