    24/7 Chat About Anything

Cold and rainy day with some snow flurries this morning. It reminds me of being in Seattle in March! Rinse and repeat for two more days to come.

All settled into my campsite just a little ways from my last spot. I now have mellow friends on each side of me that I have camped with before. But the wind will be keeping us mostly indoors. Fortunately my trailer is pretty close to being nose end into the wind for this upcoming 3 day cold...

8 inch GPS tablet found, cheap and fast.

If you mount an 8 inch tablet on top of the dashboard or in any position on the windshield and a police officer sees you driving with it you will be issued a moving violation ticket for obstructing your vision of the road. You need to think this through much more carefully as you are suggesting...

Roof Computer fans instead of a fantastic fan?

There a linear 12v fans made for cooling computer racks. That might be a possible combination of powered exhaust to use with the rain guard venting hacks. They would exhaust air to the exterior. I am not sure about reversible direction options though. It would require more investigation than I...

    New to this

In the LTVA areas that have vault toilets there are many persons camping in sedan cars. They just need to camp within 500 feet of a vault toilet. The official BLM website does offer maps of each LTVA and the vault toilet locations are shown on those maps. So that will make it easy for you to...

8 inch GPS tablet found, cheap and fast.

Your installation location is flawed in one very significant safety aspect. It takes your eyes down too low for safe driving practices if you wanted to glance at the GPS map while driving. Your eyes need to remain looking forward out the window. Or at least be able to see some movement of other...

Roof Computer fans instead of a fantastic fan?

Always stop to visualize EVERYTHING from A to Z when you get ideas such as this. You would need to create a curbed frame to mount them into. Water and rain can move sideways while you drive down the road or even when camping in strong winds. As you are not going to have any external cover you...

    Air Tight Garbage Container

Through trail and error you will before very long figure out how to deal with your trash so your place does not become a stink bomb. Different people choose different ways of doing this. There is no one solution that fits everyone’s situation or dislikes.

America the Miserable depending on your age!

At any age misery is indeed possible in America. A hungry, tired toddler is as miserable as any cranky, tried, over the hill nomad. Neither one has the ability to change what is making them feel cranky.

There are a number of places to camp near Williams. I like the area near Dog Town reservoir the best as it is more forested. The forest of tall trees with a lot of birdlife is a a real treat after a winter in the desert.

I do not know if this is of interest to anyone. It is just something I came across. Sam’s Club is having a sale in the annual membership fee. The regular membership is $14.00 and the Plus membership is $50. I myself have no room to store bulk sized food purchases and do not have a freezer or...

The pitter patter of little birds feet on my roof is back! I never hear it during the winter in the desert as there are very few small birds around. The ones that do show up stay in the bushes along the washes. But now I am back in the forest areas again where there is more water and plenty of...

Visible vs. Verizon Wireless: Plans, Pricing, Data and More

There is a Verizon tower next to the Carl Jrs in Quartzsite, I can get very good speeds from it sitting in my car in that area when I am getting get no useable speed at La Posa South. So if I really need to do downloads or uploads during the day I just head there. The Verizon signal strength is...

    Portable Food Warmer 12V 24V 110V 3-in-1 $23.77

In my nomadic lifestyle I would get poor value out of a Hot Logic, I typically only do long drives on a highway a few times a year. I do not eat a lot of hot meals in the early afternoon which is when I would have enough solar input hours for a hot logic off my house battery/solar. These small...

This higher elevation really gets the solar input supercharging my battery earlier in the morning. A very noticeable difference in Williams AZ versus Lake Havasu City AZ. Both campsites have full sun. Now my house battery is already topped back up to 100% around 6:30 am. I am awake but my...

Ben, I do have Nature Lover’s regular email address. He gave it to me when his cell service was unreliable. I am not going to post it publicly but if you really want it out of concern contact me by private message.

    What are you reading?

Reading Jeffrey Deavers new series “Colter Shaw”. CBS has optioned the books and main character for a new series that started this spring called “Tracker”. The books are available as audio books or ebooks. I am downloading them remotely from my public library as I travel. You can stream...

    New here.

Kingman is always crowded in Spring and fall as it is higher in elevation than Lake Havasu City so always 5 to 10 degrees cooler. A good stop-off for people heading north to Lake Mead or heading east towards Flagstaff. I did not even attempt to find a spot off of D W Ranch RD or Blake Ranch Rd.

Hanging out with the big boys at a rest stop heading east along I-40 on the way to high country in Northern AZ. The Lake Havasu City area where I had been doing dispersed BLM camping was predicted to head into triple digit temperature this next Monday. I am now settled in for a little while...
