What do you do with all of your free time?

Things to do will find you. You won't have as much free time as you anticipated.

I finally gave up on coffee makers and started drinking instant.

    Social security insolvency 2033

About 25 percent of the federal budget is a category called "Other" It is larger than the defense budget; about $1.5 TRILLION/ year. We the American public deserve to know what this money is spent on.

    Social security insolvency 2033

Technically SS is already insolvent. Congress has counted the trust fund as part of the federal budget since the mid 1960s. It's basically a ponzy scheme. If any business practiced such accounting principles, they would be prosecuted by the government.

    Damaged my Fiberglass

I accidentally did this with screws too long that protruded through the outside fiberglass. I hurriedly cut a piece of rubber roof repair and put it over my mistake. I figured it would be a good temporary solution; 7 years later and it's still holding up. Doesn't look pretty but it's working 🙂

How do you people do it? Having a pet cat

I've been traveling full time in a travel trailer with 2 different cats since 2011. My first cat got lymphoma and went to heaven in 2016. 4 months later I agreed to foster a cat for my neighbor for "a few weeks". A few weeks has turned into almost 6 years running :) At the time I was not...

    Freedom from BAD SMELLS!

I've also had success with white vinegar or bleach in keeping my travel trailer smelling good. To add another idea here, I use essential oils for cleaning and air purifying. I use Purification oil in my air purifier and mix it with distilled water in a spray bottle instead of Febreeze. (Febreeze...

I see its been almost a year. How is your journey going?

So I may have overdone it with the canned goods, but ...

And BTW, obviously, world level macro events are not the only reason to prepare. On 12 June 2012, just after I laid on my couch to take a nap, I was startled awake by a massive storm (I later learned was called a deracho, had never heard of such a thing). It had CAT 1 hurricane winds, thunder...

So I may have overdone it with the canned goods, but ...

Its certainly not paranoia to be prepared for emergencies. Ukraine is the 3rd highest, food exporting country in the world; and might soon be controlled by an invading dictator. Well said! I'm also Army veteran. Retired with 24 years service.

    Toyota Tacozilla

I saw one of the old Toyota rigs on the road today! On I-10 west in Florida. This new version seems ok. But I wouldn't want that sun roof in hot weather.

    A little nervous

You'll be fine! I've been full-timing 10 years with my cats. We've survived a deracho, a few hurricanes, many storms, below zero and above 100 temps. (13 days w/o power during 100 degree heatwave after the deracho). But all of those things led me to do mods to improve our off grid living...

Me and Princess Meeauwee, Fierce Mouse Killer and Hater of Women (her Appalachee war name). She hasn't liked most of the women I've dated lol. She's very suspicious and protective!

Anyone travelling with rescued cats (multiple)?

I travel with one cat and she is the central focus of every decision I make. In 10 years of full time RVing, I have had several things happen that could have been disastrous for her had I not been home. I have insurance for "stuff" but she is irreplaceable. We've rushed to shelter during tornado...

    The $1000 mark

I've been doing it for 10 years. Living in a travel trailer. Fortunately I have enough savings that I bought the RV with cash, and I have cash to pay for my off grid projects. i e, solar and all its requirements, propane radiant heater, skirting and so forth. I do it by rarely spending income on...

removed furnace 12v need be grounded, where?

I took the forced air furnace out of both my RVs and replaced with propane radiant heaters. I'm not an electrician so someone more knowledgeable than me may cringe at this: I taped the ends of each wire so there is no copper exposed. That was 7 years ago and it has not caused any problems.

    10 year full timer RVer

I guess the title says it all lol. I forgot about this forum til I got an email that it was moving to vanlife. So I'm reintroducing and getting reaquainted. I have 2 travel trailers. Bought a 34 footer in 2011, only moved it occasionally as needed. In 2017 I wanted to travel more so I bought a...
