    Limited Battery Options

What constitutes a "true" deep-cycle battery? How does one tell? As for the rest, thanks but none of that is relevant to my question or country. I'd really rather use AGM for two reasons: I don't have to worry about filling them up and they don't off-gas. That just makes my life a lot easier.

    Limited Battery Options

I made the mounts myself so they are the same height as the regular mounts. As for the wingnuts, I see where your concern is coming from. Checking the nuts regularly is a really simple thing to do though. Not only that, but wingnuts aren't really any less secure than a regular non-locking nut...

    Limited Battery Options

I'm looking to upgrade my solar system to help weather the Canadian winter. I've recently upgraded my solar panels. I now have 2 100w mono panels from Renogy on tilting mounts. My current charge controller is Renogy's Wander a 30a PWM controller. The battery is 105ah marine sealed battery that...

    Lost on Solar!

This inquiry is way to vague. Solar is really confusing when you first start out. I hated being asked for specifications right away but they are necessary. You have some stuff, but we don't know what. We don't know your usage. We don't know your budget either.  So with that in mind: I found...

    Many Conflicting Thoughts

While I've never been in your situation, I have moved to a large city (ugh) following my boyfriend at the time. This was long before I'd even heard of van dwelling. I ended up feeling trapped. Afterwards, I told myself that I'd never do that again, that I would put my own dreams first. Nowadays...

Insulation FOR heat and AGAINST heat. Is there a difference?

Black felt would definitely interfere. Reflectix works by reflecting heat and requires an air gap. I'm not saying the felt negates everything, but it is silver for a reason.

    Data Plans for Canadians

I'm looking to get internet "on the road" but I haven't been able to find any good options for Canadians. Unlimited data plans aren't a thing here apparently. I couldn't find much online. I really need some sort of internet connection for my laptop to be able to do my schoolwork. Any Canadian...

    Commercial Vehicle to Motorhome Insurance

I am a BC resident. My van is currently classified as a commercial vehicle class 1. I am in the process of getting the body style changed to a motorhome. The conversion is already done and meets the required definition of a motorhome. I understand that some sort of vehicle inspection is...

Nomad Newbie Buys a Step Van

A few of you asked for pictures of the van's current interior. These are from the Craigslist ad. The floors look very nice, but the overall aesthetic is a little bit too "basement suite" for me. It will be nice to not have to buy everything all at once. I can do the necessary changes first, then...

Nomad Newbie Buys a Step Van

Hi everyone,  My name is Callum. I'm flying to Vancouver on Friday to pick up the keys to my 1991 GMC Grumman step van! The previous owner converted it so it comes with a wood stove. That might be all I keep though as the current set up isn't exactly pretty. I'm very excited to be taking my...
