    How about a Honda CRV?

My friends aunt converted a 1997 CR-V into a camper. The build and design was amazing and has served over ten years of road trips for her. I plan on getting a first-gen CR-V as its truly a great vehicle for dwelling. While it shares the same platform as the Civic, most engine parts are similar...

The only Kia Rio? I don't believe it!

Impressive vehicle! Surprised you could get lots of room in that. I had spent over five years living out of a Geo Metro and believed I was the only one who had chose such a tiny vehicle. But I chose it for similar reasons: I loved the fuel mileage it got. I did see a couple of Rios converted to...

    Memoirs of The S.IX "Phoebe"

As mentioned in the introductory of 'Captain's Logs', we are all captains of our ships. This has become my most favorite quote (thanks cheapRVliving) and I take these words in with pride. I have been fascinated with science-fiction subjects, whether it be books, television shows, video games...

    Need encouragement

Hello free_to_be_me, It's alright to be nervous when starting off this lifestyle. I've been living full-time in my car since I was 18 (now 24) and believe me I was beyond nervous in the beginning. As for people pushing to know how you live just be honest. I've always told people I'm a...

    CB Radio......useful?

Most definitely CB radios are great to have. If you get stuck somewhere a CB can really save your bum. Its also cool to chat with others on the road.

    Food on $5/day!

Great cooks everyone! Sometimes we will do a small pork steak for dinner but mostly it's salads with tofu, chinese noodles and 'homemade' wedge fries. We do lots more on occasion (like a full turkey dinner for thanksgiving) but if it's a slow day we just microwave something quick at the truck stop.

GIRLS' ROOM!!! What clothing do you own?

We wear the same clothes as it saves us space and we have clothing which we both think are cute, feel good and can work with. For the both of us, we have 16 small tank tops, 10 pairs of jeans, 6 sweaters, 10 t-shirts and 5 sweatpants then our underwear. We have kept our luggage to four small...

Women Only: Safety on the road - sexual assault

Wow this thread has really grown, that is awesome! Danger can be anywhere on the open road. Not once have we slept at a truck stop where we felt completely at-ease. I sleep with a knife under my pillow and Jamie always has the car keys in her shirt pocket. Thankfully I didn't need to use the...

WOMENS' FORUM: Do you use your van to take vacations from unhappy husbands

No, but I'm in a lesbian-marriage. If my wife was abusive, however, then yes I would take off with the car and do some camping as a time-out.

WOMEN ONLY: Calling full-time FEMALE nomads

I hate filling the rear tire with air every morning when it's colder than -25. Lol.

What song do you listen to most often?

Extreme Ways by Moby. It's the ending song to the Bourne films.

What about the ones left behind?

Agreed. When we leave our 'home terminal' we don't say goodbye. Jamie doesn't have family she keeps in touch with, but I will call my dad or cousin a couple times a week on our travels. We know it's never really goodbye.

Are you really happy as a nomad?

Life is all about being happy and doing what you want, and my wife and I have found exactly what we wanted. She has been living like this since she was eighteen in 2012 after family difficulties, she turned an outcome of a nightmare into something amazing. I've been her best friend before she...

    Car camping

My wife lived out of her Geo Metro for five years. It's much smaller than these newer hatchies but it was super roomy for her 5' 11" height. I'm not knowledgeable on the new vehicles, but I would think comfort is just as important in anything regardless of what you are driving. When we chose...

    Sleep in a 'sedan'?

We have a Saturn coupe with that little 'doggy door'. All we did was folded down the back seats and threw a narrow foam mattress with feather blankets and pillows. Sleeps both of us great but depending on how bumpy other vehicles can be then yes, I would agree to get a wood platform or...

    The History of AutoCamping Lifestyle

I wonder if anyone had ever taken an old Mini-Cooper or a Subaru 360 and turned it into a micro-camper. That would be cool to see.

    Living in a car

An Aveo/Swift+/Wave can be quite comfy, even I have looked into getting one for the future. My wife lived in a 99 Geo Metro (sibling to the Aveo) from 2012 to early 2017 and found it great. Even being 5' 11".

    How about a Honda CRV?

A lot of people have converted their CR-V's into mini-campers. My aunt transformed her 97 CR-V into one amazing home and it's super convenient with Honda's included picnic table. I loved that picnic table lol. I haven't slept in the newer ones but hers was a basic setup and it gave me an awesome...

    Where do you "live?"

Our 'home terminal' is half hour east of Winnipeg in Canada at my dad's place.

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

My wife Jamie lived out of her 1999 Geo Metro from 2012 to early 2017 and has loved it. She is quite tall being 5' 11" but said it was very comfortable and gave her all the room she needed.
