Been living in my car since August 2016. I acutually like it.

Hey Randy - it sounds like you have made the best out of the situation! Congrats to you! It takes a lot of energy and willpower to make things work and not to cave in. You should be proud of yourself! Safe travels and keep us updated when you have decided on where you're moving to!

    hi everyone im finally ready

Congratulations!!! It's the perfect time to get on the road down south - we just got 2 inches of snow here in Toronto and I've had it for this winter! LOL I used free campsites dot com to put together my route for the next 4 months. Some of the spots are just Walmarts or rest stops, but others...

    Nearly Ready on East Coast

Hi SushiGirl!  How was your winter? How far is your van build coming along? And the leash training?  I am in southern Ontario, so "almost north east" LOL. My plan is to start this week and slowly make wider circles until I am off to Nova Scotia. My plan is to sample van life and get an idea of...

I am ready, the van is ready, but we are having a snow storm!!

Thank you!!  Yes I assume the buddy heater is a bit of an overkill for a dodge grand caravan - especially since I am only "sampling" the van life  for 4 months. (for now!) Then again, 2 of those months will be cold (freezing at night) and that can be a looong time when you're cold. The venting...

    BobBski 2017..

Bob, I must say - your pictures are fabulous, they make me itchy to get on the road and learn how to fish! And I get a kick out of the girls! My guy is half chihuahua, half Jack Russell and he has me trained well!  I too am wondering how he will adjust to the lifestyle change of car/minivan...

I am ready, the van is ready, but we are having a snow storm!!

Thank you AbuelaLoca! Yes, I am quite excited. In fact a bit anxious and panicky LOL but I believe once I am on the road it will quiet down. I hadn't even ventured so far as to look into the Log folder... will have a read and am happy to post if anything interesting actually happens LOL Other...

I am ready, the van is ready, but we are having a snow storm!!

Thanks Queen!! I am quite surprised myself that I would give up the luxuries of my home so easily. I suppose when it feels right, it may just be right. we'll see  ;) Yes most definitely hot water bottles. I "practiced" in the last week when it was milder (just above freezing at night) and I...

I am ready, the van is ready, but we are having a snow storm!!

Thanks so much rvwandering and BobBski!! Yes, I am glad you confirmed my thought that 10" is just too close to run the buddy heater safely. I will practice this weekend with the stove and if need be, invest in a cheap hotel/motel while it's still freezing. Right now, I need to get out of the...

Experiment: running Buddy heater on pilot only

ohhh... thanks for sharing! I just posted in the newbie forum that I am wondering if the buddy would scorch my ceiling on the lowest level, since I dont have 30" room. But maybe with just the pilot going it would keep me from freezing (20s at night, 30s during the day) AND from scorching the van.

I am ready, the van is ready, but we are having a snow storm!!

Hi everyone! I just signed up after stalking this site for a while now. :) After watching many, many, many Youtube Videos and reading extremely helpful, informative blogs and posts etc., I decided to do a 4 months trial run. I rented a Dodge Grand Caravan (they won't rent out larger vans...
