Anyone tried a hammock in a van?

Yeah, it's a great idea! I have a pull out bed/sofa in my van and anchor points to hang a hammock when the bed is folded up. It can get chilly since there's nothing underneath you...I put my sleeping bag in.my hammock sometimes and that's pretty cozy but not a permanent solution for cold...

    foot operated water pump

Hi there! I'm trying to figure out a way to get running water without using an electrical water pump.  It seems like most of the hand pumps out there aren't built to last, so I'm looking at marine foot pumps.   I found this one which is supposed to be pretty...

how to make an insulated curtain?

I'm currently doing insulation on my van.  I have a metal bulkhead installed between the cargo area and the cab, with the center panel converted into a swinging door so I can move between the two areas without having to leave my van.  I was originally thinking of packing the partition itself...

Paneling on doors - facing a dilemma

I'm about to install the paneling in my van (probably this stuff: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ply-Bead-Plywood-Siding-Plybead-Panel-Common-11-32-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-313-in-x-48-in-x-96-in-538281/100080170)   I am still not sure what to do about my doors.  The door mechanisms in my van...

    Feedback on my flooring plan?

Thanks for the advice!  I like polyiso, if I were to lay the plywood directly over the polyiso without building a framework, would I need to screw it down?  Or would adhesive do the job? Do you think I need something between the sheet vinyl and the plywood, or is it ok to just glue it down?

    Feedback on my flooring plan?

Hi all -  My tentative plan for installing my floor is as follows: 1. van body 2. silicone vapor barrier 3. FloorMuffler underlayment (polypropylene foam) 4. Reflectix 5. 1/2" or 3/4" marine ply subfloor 6. sheet vinyl  I already have all the materials except for the plywood.  I know the...

could use some help with my electrical usage estimation...

Thanks for the tip about the fridge!  I'll be sure to insulate it.. I re-estimated it to be lower, but the battery bank still looks like it'll have to be around 540Ah.  The Yeti only has a 100Ah battery...do I need to get more and wire them in parallel?  Or will the one battery be able to...

could use some help with my electrical usage estimation...

That's a good idea (turning it off when I sleep)! And yeah I'm thinking my fridge estimate was probably a bit too high.  I can probably revise this and shave off a few watts...

could use some help with my electrical usage estimation...

Hey highdesertranger!  The Cintiq is basically a monitor you can draw on (like an interactive computer screen).  I use it for work.  The router is for internet, which I also need for work, but another user suggested turning it off when I sleep which is a good idea.  I could probably charge my...

could use some help with my electrical usage estimation...

I tried to work out my electrical usage, but it's adding up to be rather high (even though I accounted for a compressor fridge and a Fantastic Fan).  Did I make a mistake, or does this look about right?  What would be the best way to reduce my usage?  The Cintiq and external monitor are both...

Anyone with a Carrier Transport AC?

Thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'd hate to take it out and not be able to install a different unit. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Anyone with a Carrier Transport AC?

My van came with a Carrier AC installed (model# 68RV14102A)...I'm wondering if anyone out there has the same or a similar one? I want to know how big the opening has to be without necessarily removing my AC (if it's 14x14 I could install a Fantastic Fan in the same opening). It uses 1.6kW and Im...

Is there any hope this hammock setup could work?

Ah, this is great info.  Thanks a lot.  I weigh 150 lbs.  Not that much.  But I don't wanna take chances. Are you talking about mounting the pipe spreader from the frame of the van , or the fiberglass top?  Do you think I'd be able to mount it towards the top of the fiberglass and then hang the...

Is there any hope this hammock setup could work?

Maybe a foot or so.  That sounds like a simple solution, I'll try tying a few knots at the end.  If that doesn't work maybe I'll try the eyehook solution someone else suggested.  Kinda surprised it's hanging so low since my van is pretty big.

Is there any hope this hammock setup could work?

The plan for the build was to arrange everything so I would have space for my hammock to sleep in at night (also would give me the option to sleep two since I plan to build a folding couch/bed as well).  However when I put my hammock diagonally across the inside of my van, it's looking like...

keep my Honda generator or no?

My van came with a Honda EV6010 installed.  It's got about 1,860 hours on it and has been sitting for a really long time (several years at least) and probably needs a bunch of work.  I'm gonna take it to get serviced because I don't know much about generators and don't want to blow something up...

Honda EV6010 generator - sell or repair?

Jimindenver - thanks for the suggestions!  So the EV6010 is an inverter generator?  I just assumed it was a regular generator but that's a nice bit of news.
