Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

Are you concerned about carbon monoxide gas from the candle lantern?

    Campfire Cooking & Safety

cover the bottom of the pan with soap (use a bar of soap to wipe it on). When finished cooking over coals or fire, wipe the blackened soap off. Off comes the soot and the pan is not black.

    My Four Seasons of Vanlife

Hello, I spent three of the best years of my life, so far, in Asheville (junior high school). Your response to Large Marge was quite insightful. I'm impressed.

Are vans even close to being a viable option at campgrounds / RV parks? (esp. on the east coast)

Regarding Allstays, I've used that app. for several years now and find it highly useful. Highly recommend!

What do you do with your dog when you have to go shopping for food?

When you're in the meat section, keep the dog on a VERY short leash. :)

    Hi everyone

Check out Ram Promaster vans; I have one I built into a nice camper. Ram offers "high roofs" which allow "stand-up" capabilities.

    5X8 enclosed cargo trailer? or?

I bought a Ram Promaster partly because they are front wheel drive which is great in snow country. Then I built it into a camper van with a full sized bed platform in the rear/across the back. Worked great. Still have it, but a couple of years ago, I had a roof system installed which raises up...

S250 Military Shelter Camper conversion on military trailer

I had solar panels on my roof and used double sided strong tape to hold them in place. Worked like a charm. Can't remember the brand of tape, but got the idea from a long-forgotten forum where someone else used it. I covered the little brackets attached to the panels under which the tape went...

If there may be a van in your future, check out the Ram Promasters. Great vans.

    Arrived!

If you have room to hang it, you might try a hammock. Also, you could try an air mattress that you can deflate when not in use.

Did you have your coughing fit before or after the shower? LoL!!

My first attempt at van camping

I got some super strong double-sided tape, a key box, and taped a spare vehicle key on the underside of my vehicle. It's been there for over three years now. I check it about every two months.

Where do you shower (when you don't have a shower in your van)?

In a real pinch, baby wipes work.

Anyone around St George / Hurricane willing to talk to a newbie?

My wife and I did some long-distance hiking on the Appalachian Trail, and learned (quickly) how to live pretty comfortably out of a twenty-eight pound backpack (each). You quickly discover just how little you need to be comfortable. Minimize!

    5X8 enclosed cargo trailer? or?

You might consider a Promaster van; they come with extended bodies, high roofs, etc. I bought one and built it out myself (with some help from a brother-in-law). I made the mistake of getting a regular roof, not the high roof, so I later had a "penthouse" roof put on it by Sportsmobile, but...

Is there a device that will let you mount a patio umbrella on a van?

Check out "canopies". They are easy to put up, and will give you all the shade you need. They are a tent without sides. You simply stake them at each of the four corners.

How do you find out about the "big gatherings"?

what's the futur for gasoline van/RV/camper

All of that, AND, what to do with used up batteries? Have these "electric vehicle" advocates thought about how they intend to dispose of used batteries used by the vehicles?

    Well, it's a start!

My response to perfectionists is: perfection doesn't exist in this world. "Perfection is the enemy of GOOD ENOUGH."
