Why you would not attend an RTR

It depends how sick I am. Drove from the Mt Rainier area and could not risk the Siskyous. Currently at a motel in Ashland debating whether to go to the local hospital for a check for flu. Dang, I rarely get sick but being almost 63 years old is something I am just getting used to. ? I am...

    RTR and tents

O No worries, HDR. : ) Using the words “dig” and “trench” was a little more than I meant to convey. I do not carry a shovel made for that. My former Eagle Scout husband and I always practiced “leave no trace” camping, however, it has been over 15 years ago since we tent camped!

    RTR and tents

Good information, Bullfrog. I have a “footprint” tarp made especially for my tent scheduled to arrive the day before I leave (I hope ?), which does exactly as you have described.

    RTR and tents

Muffled a chuckle when my husband suggested the first thing I should do after setting up my tent is to dig a small trench around it. I laughed because 1.) I visualize rain down there as a flash flood and 2.) after my trial run setting the tent up in the living room felt like I needed a nap...

    Mice!

This is why I am against gathering up feral cats for spay and neuter. Less cats = more rats!

First time at RTR this year?

For three years now I’ve been trying to attend the RTR, but my work always got in the way. I am almost 63 and work only part time now. So looking forward to this, but admit I’m a little apprehensive about the trip down from Wa state. This time really looks like a go - do not have a Van or...

    Comparison Shopping (Transit/Promaster/Sprinter)

"I wouldn't even consider a Promaster! I'll leave it with you get what you pay for and I'm speaking from experience." climbingcoastie.wordpress.com We just purchased a new Promaster (V-6) for our business and I have to agree that I personally would not consider it for recreation or dwelling...

Ideas for Making Money On The Road

"What we need is tort reform and good Samaritan laws to protect those who want to do the right thing but are afraid of getting sued." Years ago, in a land far away, farmers routinely left a remnant of the crops in the fields for the destitute to glean. Nomads traveling through would work for...

What is the luxury you allow yourself

Would love to visit CA Wine Country someday.....but right now we are saving for our van (yay!) so that's not going to happen in the near future. Have visited Sausalito-that's as far north coming from the south I've been.  Those spas you listed looked nice, thank you for the links - however, not...

What is the luxury you allow yourself

3 hours of soaking, herbal sauna, a salt nap, and soaking with jacuzzi followed with a full-body Korean body scrub. Oh, and then hot Korean soup for lunch. Cost? Approx. $130.00 w/tip for scrub. How I feel afterward? Priceless!

    Science Fiction

1.) Cat House, by Michael Peak. For Cat Lovers - of all kinds and yes, dog lovers too! This is one of my all time favorites! Love the way the author tied in his personal life into the story and developed some good characters. Set in the San Diego area and surrounding desert. 2) Catamount - a...
