    Mattress Options

Do you know how thick yours is? I am trying to look at some options online to start. This one is PVC and phthalate free, which is a big deal for me because I am chemically sensitive. Another one by the same company. Hopefully those links work as I am rusty on this type of forum. A Thermarest...

    Off Grid? really? (soft rant)

With Russia practicing electrical grid takeovers in Ukraine after a failed attempt here a few years ago, the more self reliant we are the better. I hope to have solar power for my RV so that I won't need to rely on plugging in anywhere, though the cost and environmental aspects are important to...

    Bedding in Prius

I'm not in a prius. I won't have plenty of electricity as I will be car camping and I hate the traditional camping air mattresses, that's why I'm looking for alternatives.

    What is going wrong?

My example of the pb and fruit is to counter the buying of a $5 sandwich. A good meal of beans and rice with fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables is filling and cheap. Corn tortillas are also cheap and easy to do a million things with. Fruit and Vegetable smoothies can pack a punch and will...

    Mattress Options

Do you have a thermarest? That is one brand the book I have talked about and was mentioned in a few other posts on here. I wish we had an REI here! I used to work at one in Chicago and it was always great, though a lot more expensive than I could afford most of the time. I was looking them up on...

    Mattress Options

I saw your comment on this when I searched the forums and I didn't quite get it now, but that makes a lot of sense, thank you! Make it less lumpy and a little warmer. Does yours feel less like being on a waterbed than the big air mattresses? I hate trying to get up from one of those and...

    Mattress Options

Yep, working on reading reviews! I always look for reviews and take them with a grain of salt.

    Mattress Options

I am going to be tent camping and need something I can sleep on comfortably. I am small, 5ft and 105lbs, and I prefer firm mattresses. I hate the big blow up air mattresses and my hammock stand idea seems like it will not work out. I found a book about tent and car camping and it mentioned self...

    Bedding in Prius

Can you advise on picking out a self inflating pad? I just discovered these and I need something for tent camping and then maybe for use in my RV when I get on the road. My hammock stand plan isn't working and I hate air mattresses.

    What is going wrong?

You've been through a lot and have had a lot of negative people come your way. Start with changing your mindset and really looking at your fears and anxieties. Think of the cheapest ways to do things and always expect the best from the people you encounter from here on out. Instead of a $5...

    Crime at Walmarts

No employee of any retail store is supposed to try to stop a thief from exiting the store. It's pretty universal rule unless the person is trained security or loss prevention, and even then it's frowned upon. No company wants those kinds of lawsuits (hurt employee or hurt thief). It does...

    Amazon/ Whole Foods

Amazon has been selling groceries online for a while now. There's Amazon Pantry. Who knows how they will handle it all but supposedly the WF CEO is staying. Their stocks were tanking and something wasn't going right. I am not on the road yet, but I much prefer shopping in local stores than...

Women's Forum: What do you do for work?

I am not on the road yet, but here's what I'm working on: Selling used books  and other things on Amazon - I source at thrift stores, library sales, garage sales, ship in 50lb boxes to Amazon, and then adjust prices and hope things keep selling, currently sales are slumped. Selling Poofy...

    Aldi finds!

I just got a solar shower for $5 at Aldi in Michigan. I figure this will be great for washing hands and dirty feet (I have a kid), even if I don't use it for taking full showers. They also have tents, inflatable pillows, water jugs, reflective rope, hammock and foldable stand (stand is good...

    Escape Velocity

Why would the hose water not be potable? If it is the hose itself, as garden hoses have lead, buying a drinking water hose sooner than later will serve you. You may need it for filling your water containers so seems like a practical purchase.

    Newbie Camper

coolers - I happen to have access to 2 smaller coolers so was trying to use what I have (tight budget). The block ice part makes sense. For the music festival camping I have done (I had access to kitchen and bathroom), we froze plastic peach jars and that worked really well. I wouldn't be able...

    Newbie Camper

I plan to do a week or so tent camping trips at a time in order to source books and increase my income to get on the road in my RV. I haven't thought about all these camping logistics because I have been working toward my RV. So, I have a couple small coolers and am going to get a camp stove...

Cooking in a van with dietary restrictions?

I know this is an old post, but it sounds like the Autoimmune Protocol would serve you well. I have celiac and possibly another AI disease. I have been on AIP for a year now and it has helped a ton. There are books, podcasts, blogs, and facebook support groups for AIP. I even found an e-book of...
