    Poetry game - cinquain

Be well in the tumble of our fortuity; who knows where a human soul might settle.

    Any thoughts on crock pots?

Research year by year IMO. SERIOUSLY. Read reviews. They have been crippled by Amazon removing comments, which are often better than reviews. But from someone who has read the reviews for years, HERE'S THE POINT: Most slow cookers on the market these days boil the hell outta yer stuff. Why...

All gone, dark before dawn. Easy quiet transforms into your silence, rigor, shifts, absence.

Gamma Lid bucket smells horrid inside

It's not really so different with guys, especially as time goes by.  Everyone's valves get looser, not just one sex's.  I mentioned that before in another thread and got some grief for it; oh well.  So it goes, even here. I have for a long time tried to pee first elsewhere only then poop in my...

    Poetry game - cinquain

Here is a poetry game maybe easier than the haiku game, but also ... harder in many ways.  You choose what fits your mind this day the best. It doesn't have any of the classical poetry strictures, like use of seasonal words.  There's less a sense of elegy or longing or impermanence. The game is...

Should be deleted, the ecstatic thought, slung wild? Let's find its heart here.

    Predator 2000 Generator

Same one I've got. Awfully neglected for a year, some show involved. How bad did I screw myself here?

Save water by not washing pans and plates

I certainly use more water to wash dishes than I do vinegar or rubbing alcohol.

Save water by not washing pans and plates

How much rubbing alcohol do you spray?  I can fill a pretty small sprayer with enough to last me a week.

Save water by not washing pans and plates

Water is way more expensive -- and bulky -- and difficult to have on hand in sufficient supply, especially for tasks like cleaning -- than vinegar or rubbing alcohol, unless you're using one of those things very weird.  Paper towels to clean off a plastic plate or ceramic bowl/whatever come down...

Save water by not washing pans and plates

I wipe stuff off with a paper towel first, as many as it takes to get obvious stuff off, including grease. Then a rubbing alcohol spray. It's not as cheap as vinegar, but a few sprays are cheap enough. And vinegar is not foolproof. Anyway, it makes it so my main enemy is crust that's hard...

    Missing women

Depressing thing to hear going into the new year. But I fear there will be more of it, with so many people being tossed out into the streets and having no mental handle on it available. Things will happen and it's hard to think about. Try to stick together if you can. Being a loner or...

Save water by not washing pans and plates

Yeah, it's the universal wait-forever solvent and hope-there's-no-grease-or-forget-it solvent. I don't have either a lot of patience or religious conviction, so I like actual results.

    Filtering water?

Berkeys are great. Best tasting water in a blind taste test with my friends. I wouldn't go too small, though. Even more so as you have pets, and both of you need to drink water all day, every day. Rationing water is hard on your kidneys, worse if your diet isn't the best, and dangerous to...

    good values for washing up/showering

Yes.  I got one on Amazon.  Works really great.  Use it with a black 5-gallon bucket I put out in the sun during the warm months.  Only thing I don't like about it is the battery is built-in, so I'd have to buy a new unit when this one fizzles out.  And batteries often fizzle out fairly quickly...
