    Gray water... why?

Yep truck stop parking lot procedures ain’t gonna work in many places around large expensive motorhomes, tourism businesses, parks or day use areas. Most places nomads park it is a privilege to do so as we usually bring little to offer to the location. I got into the habit of using a small cheap...

    Gray water... why?

lol!!! Some older motorhomes had a system that injected both black and gray water into the exhaust manifolds instantly burning/evaporating it while driving down the road!

    Gray water... why?

Gray water attracts animals and especially insects, it is illegal to dump even small amounts it’s in certain areas but people pour out or spill coffee or drinks occasionally. Vehicle air conditioners drain water on the ground by design. If you build in a drain it makes pretty oblivious where...

Where to park, camp, shower etc

Welcome! Number one reason for being a nomad is to follow mild weather as most of your living will be outdoors. Always be prepared to keep warm and stay flexible in your planning.

New NYC transplant w a dream

I saw an old friend of mine today in his old rusty1990 Toyota truck with a manufactured topper what now looks like a home built as it has been repaired and seal coated so many times. Rear cab slider window open and cab windows cracked to get a little breeze, snoring away in the back not a care...

    Life At Kamp Koon………

^^^Lol!!! I can remember when you actually had a metal key you had to put in a cylinder and turn to unlock things so I installed hidden push buttons that used relays and electric solenoids that worked great til the battery went dead. Now you can fix things via blue tooth I guess, wave your magic...

    What are you reading?

^^^PBS Newshour had Dr. Collin’s on yesterday I believe with his new book where he explains his beliefs on science and faith as well. He seemed way too happy but I guess I’m getting cynical in my old age. He developed his Christian beliefs around 25 years old he stated. I was just getting out of...

if you need this much watts, do this

You can get by in urban situations with very little, even refilling a small cooler with free ice from drink dispensers or cooling centers in some cases.

if you need this much watts, do this

Urban living and access to plugins like the library or public spaces gives you more options. A cheap solar panel, DC to DC charger and a new tech battery will probably be all you need to run a high dollar compressor 12 volt frig/freezer. EcoFlo has been selling systems that are self contained...

Cheap weekend homestead outside BIG 500K population city?

You are absolutely correct that there are more people and more vehicles in remote areas. Backpackers and hikers as well! I can remember Backpackers complaining about RVs with generators, Jeeps and motorcycles trying to restrict federal lands to foot traffic only and at the same time rafters...

Cheap weekend homestead outside BIG 500K population city?

Now, now, blocking the road so someone can’t camp somewhere you don’t want them to? Many people on public land don’t exactly act as they should, might possibly you be encouraging those people to create or expand the road because of your actions? They are probably thinking mean thoughts about...

    Service TPMS Light On....Promaster

Same on front wheel drive vehicles although it is usually only the outside edge. You can after rotating front to back do a front to back crisscross putting the wear on the inside. Many people simply inflate the tire slightly in order to wear the center of the tread to catch up with the wear on...

Cheap weekend homestead outside BIG 500K population city?

It usually in my experience starts with ranchers and mining operations creating roads and access points. For many years you had to be a backpacker to get access to backcountry. Then dirt bikes and ATVs made exploration easier. Many campers used them before attempting to drive their larger...

The BLM’s “ Blueprint for 21st Century Outdoor Recreation ”

My view from inside is there has been a general shift of the general public’s attitude due to small but even more visible groups of people doing stuff nobody thought anyone would do. Add to that the threat of extreme weather situations that have occurred and huge crowds during the Covid...

The BLM’s “ Blueprint for 21st Century Outdoor Recreation ”

If I’m not mistaken you cannot leave your belongings over a certain period of time like maybe 24 hours now. Again too many rules in LTVAs for me.

    Detroiter here!

Welcome! Urban living can be easy! Do you have a parking spot where you teach? Are you having to take additional college courses for your work and does the college offer parking or night classes? Take a gym class or join a 24 hour workout place with parking maybe. Rotate parking nightly between...
