    Good rechargable headlamp

Using rechargeable Nimh batteries is the simplest solution, but I’m definitely checking out the Nitecore. Maybe it’s my fat head, but I always blow out the headbands, including on my Black Diamond.

Bob moving into Capri truck camper?

This pop up with a cab over bed is an even simpler design, unfortunately the price is more. https://www.alu-cab.com/product/canopy-camper/

T slot aluminum looks like a good way to go.

Changing the solar controller on a Renogy Suitcase

Although I suspect your conclusion may be close to correct, your reasons don’t make sense.   Controllers do not effect the operation of a panel, they only broker the relationship with the battery in that circuit.   Can you show the math for this? It does seem quite feasible that the series...

Changing the solar controller on a Renogy Suitcase

I’ve wondered about this too. I believe the answer is that you are fine so long as the total voltage and amps is less than the rated max of the controller. I have the Victron 75/15 too, and my question is whether a mismatched series array will produce less than double the voltage. I have...

Bob moving into Capri truck camper?

I just bought an Alpicool 12v fridge in part because of Bob’s review, which I actually watched him film. I like the design, but it’s running 80% of the time to maintain 33 degrees Fahrenheit in 75 ambient. Bob has a valid take on many things, but you’ll get better advice here if you can sort...

Propane stove - looking for recommendations

Rafting supply companies are a good source for heavy duty camp stoves. As I recall two burner prices in the $200’s, not aluminum. The biggest feature I’d like is easy break down for cleaning. I do a quick boil on my potatoes before finishing in the skillet.

    Solar Powered Water Heater

The Chinese make a cheap passive solar water heater, very popular in country. If you are in to experiments a mobile installation might be worth a try.

280AH LiFePo4 Batteries Direct From Manufacturer

I’ve been looking on AliExpress. It looks like under 500 without a BMS, shipped. I presume these are grade B cells. I like the price and understand the risk, but so many sellers and specs that are hard to figure out. I’ve made one purchase from AliExpress, kn 95 masks last March. I got...

    One person cookbooks?

One big cooking suggestion. Chop up meat into single serving amounts or dispensable chunks. Cleaning up same is a necessary chore, and best to only do it once every 7-10 days.

    Washing clothes?

I carry enough clothes to go 3 weeks plus, not all in prime shape. I store in two soft sided luggage pieces with broken zippers I got at a goodwill for a $1 a decade ago. I use laundry bags, stored with the clean it takes up a consistent amount of space. Laundromats are a cost. I’ll wash...

    Fridge/freezer? I feel confused

For one I use a 45 liter 12v as a freezer and the mid sized yeti type lifetime cooler (Walmart) with ice from the 12v. I can go for extended periods. Running a 12v freezer takes contbous power, you can lower that cost by only run during the day, but that is suboptimal. 120v appliances are...

Stumped! How to order solar panels w/o address

For larger items you can ship ‘hold for pickup’ to the shipper. I do this frequently with UPS. You do need to know the shipper, confirm with the merchant. Sometimes Amazon will use surepost, which is last mile usps delivery, but I think that’s just for smaller items. Hold for pickup is a...

    Apt newly parking notices

If you’ve been a good tenant they should accommodate you. If not consider moving into the van, short or long term. Do realize that property management does have reasonable concerns. It sounds like they let things get out of hand. The prohibition on work vehicles is not a wise decision...

    Job requires DSL/Cable

Rv parks might be an option. Also on site work where living in an RV would work. This could include shorter duration gigs and traveling on breaks. Hotels could work also if the budget allows for it.

    Questions, Build a 4 x 8 Camper trailer.

Tear drops are nice. I have a similar sized space in my small pickup. Converting a cargo trailer would be simplest, including calculating the weight. I don’t see a galley on this one, a big plus to the small teardrop design. https://americanteardrop.com/osprey
