I’m not so sure about the polls. I don’t know the demographics of his audience so don’t know how skewed the results are. But I do have some opinions (so what else is new…) Fundamentally the issue of SS is how to fund your life once you are no longer working. First of all I personally think...

It would be a safety precaution as well as trying to save electricity. The propane burner needs some electricity just to start the flame, but if the flame doesn’t start then there is an indication that something is wrong, often with the propane regulator.

Well since you insist on playing the victim card and are refusing to face the fact that each person is responsible for what wealth he obtains, here’s some more. Now every person is not going to end up with the same total wealth, but they can end up with more wealth than they would have had...

True and that’s why it would be wise to start out small and gradually grow. As you grow, then seek mentors to help you know how to deal with the other things. The guy that mows my lawn started out working for another lawn maintenance small business and then went solo. He eventually saved...

Yes, but having at least $1M in assets is much more wealthy than not having at least $1M in assets. And by the way it’s not just $1M in assets, it’s $1M in assets with no liabilities. ;-)

Partially true. My opinion is that for most people going to an expensive college is a waste of money because there really isn’t that much difference between what you get until you’re in advanced degrees. In most cases you’re just as well off going the community college/in-state university...

You are wrong about the majority becoming wealthy through inheritance. I suspect that’s just a myth made by a person to try to explain why they are not wealthy. It’s always someone else’s fault. https://www.ramseysolutions.com/retirement/how-many-millionaires-actually-inherited-their-wealth...

I think that we are saying much the same thing. I’ve said several times that if management wants to retain their top talent, then they need to reward them. Otherwise they’ll look elsewhere and often leave like you did. And if they want to increase their lot and can’t find work in a similar...

Which is the reason that any good management would know which employees are making a significant impact on the bottom line and reward them for doing so, rather than discouraging excellence by not rewarding them, but instead just giving equal salary increases to all.

Now your’re saying exactly the opposite to what you’ve said before. Statistics show that the GDP has significantly raised since the 1980s. Earlier you said that wages were stagnant since the 1980s, and now you say that salaries have been rising in keeping with sales and profits. I know from...

And if that is the best that any manager can do for their employees, then no wonder that the salaries have stagnated .

Err - that’s why you’re advised by every financial planner/advisor to always have a good sized emergency fund - at least 3-6 months worth. I’ve always had a cash/near-cash fund of that amount, and now have a near-cash fund of 4 years. I’m sleep well at night with little worry.

Duh - by not rewarding those that go well beyond the minimum requirements, you’ve just discouraged excellence and told those that tried to exceed those basic requirement that you do not value their work. That’s really a smart management technique. And yes there are other things besides money...

You’re totally missing the key point. There are opportunities everywhere. All you have to do is to take advantage of them. When I was in the 8th grade one of my teachers made a statement that had a profound influence on me. “All of you have already decided if you’re going to live on the top...

Then that’s probably the reason that employees get underpaid. By not making yourself aware of who was doing the significant improvements to the bottom line, you’re discouraging the folks who go the extra effort to do any more than exactly what is required of them. You’re basically lowering the...

This is a valid argument. To be just a bit argumentive, and IQ of 100 does not mean that half of the population is below 100. It’s a bell curve in which the largest population is going to be somewhere between 95 and 105 with the largest population being exactly at 100. ;-) OK - I’ll admit...

As I stated earlier, if white privilege is a reality, then why was I denied regular employment at a major corporation even though I had single-handed implemented a critical system as a contractor AND was told to my face that even though they wanted me as an employee, they could not hire me...
