Aspiring Minimalist, getting stuck on keeping items just in case.

I have a condo in Colorado at 650 sq. Ft. I also spend a lot of time in the summer in my van build. So I classify myself as a bit of a minimalist. But I don’t spend so much time in smaller living spaces because of the magic of minimalism, but because I can clean up my entire living space in...

    Social security

I see a problem with just doing that and nothing else. Social security currently has a surplus of funds because of all of the funding done by the baby boomers. Far more people were paying payroll taxes into SS than drawing from it. That isn’t the case any more. And now the number of people...

    Social security

I’m totally in favor of removing the cap on the payroll tax although during my working years, I enjoyed the income boost I got in September when I had reached the cap. ;-) I don’t like the idea of means testing because it’d be kinda hard to implement, and would tend to cause offshoring of...

NM State park annual camp pass poss eliminated

Gas taxes are generally earmarked for road maintenance not parks.

^^^^ continued from my earlier post…. *** Warning detailed stuff ***. Ignore if not interested… I’m going to assume that there was a difference in the data structures in the old and new systems (which is often the case, and which I suspect given that it took so long to correct). One way to...

    AT&T Network Down

My working years was as a software engineer for a major software house. I’ve experienced bad upgrades in the past and this had all of the markings of a poor software rollout. Like I said - been there, done that. Sorry for the size of my reply, and it does get a bit detailed from this point...

    AT&T Network Down

A couple of years ago a software update was done on the Rodgers communication system in Canada which resulted in a complete internet shutdown in most of British Columbia and Alberta. This meant that no one could get cash from an ATM or use their CC at fuel stations. Their cards couldn’t be...

^^^^ I tend to blame the plethora of multi-media news. When we only had three broadcast channels and each channel had only 30 minutes to deliver the news, they tended to deliver ‘just the facts’. But now we have a lot of news channels and each, for the most part, focuses only on their target...

    Interesting Articles Relating to EVs

I was in New Zealand earlier this year and was amazed at how many Teslas I saw on the road. On a side note, EV charging stations were installed on the Alaska Highway this past year and I know of a gentleman that took his Tesla up to the Arctic (Tuktoyaktuk, NWT).

True. But suppose that 100 people worked for a company that made shoes. Now suppose that a person buys a pair of shoes, then the company uses that $100 to pay one of the employees who in turn buys another pair of shoes. And then the company uses that $100 to pay one of the other employees...

Maybe I should have worded it a bit better. A $100 when in circulation can result in the purchase of thousands, which is why I keep emphasizing ‘the flow’. Money in itself is worthless, it’s just a medium of exchange. And with the growth of credit and debit, money is rapidly being replaced by...

^^^^^ When Regan first said “Trickle Down”, I laughed because it’s fairly obvious that the production of goods is worthless without the consumption of those goods. Balance is critical.
