I have always thought that using corrugated plastic (recycled campaign signs on Nov 4?) and using spray glue to hold the reflectix to it would work well to add a thermal and air space. It can be fit into the window area. Maybe use duct tape around the edges to prevent seperation if it is an issue.

I don't know what your budget is, but maybe look at the WeRoll trailers. Very lightweight but strong. They are pre-insulated and pre-wired. They also have a 1 piece roof to prevent leaks.

You can also sprinkle Diatomaceus (sp) Earth around the van. It breaks down rhe chitin in their shels or some such. You can get it at Tractor Supply or an agricultural place, or maybe a pet store. Worked great when I fostered a friendly feral momma cat & kittens.
