    Insulating the floor

Thanks for the tip. I've never seem this option before. Would certainly be easy to cut them to size for my minivan floor!

    Insulating the floor

I'm finally cutting reflectix for the interior of my T & C minivan. It's cold and the floor is the worst area. Saw Bob's vid on the insulating board for van windows. Watched countless vids on minivan curtains behind front seats and all around. Way more challenging in a minivan than in full size...

Solar Repair Reccomendation near Santa Fe or Espanola NM

I just had a horrendous experience at Santa Fe RV.  Disrespectful and rude.  The work had to be done over **by someone who cared**.   Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk Sorry you had a bad experience, but good you let people know. Their rates are too high for me. If you can recommend...

Heating when you can't afford a Mr. Buddy

I have a lighter weight down jacket for van wear, with layers of merino wool head to toe. Non itch, machine wash, anti-microbial. Layered for temp changes. For outdoors, I wear a high quality waterproof windbreaker hooded jacket. Makes the lightweight down much warmer and keeps it dry.  Night...

That jacket is on my "wish list!" 850 plus down is the best.

    HUGE Kidde Fire Extinguisher RECALL

I talked to the customer service manager at Home Depot about the Kidde recall and the long wait for replacements. He said "Bring yours in, we'll give you new ones of equal value."  A friend & I exchanged ours. I like Home Depot's staff. Always helpful.

When I wear out my Baffins I'll consider these. Might work for John. Love to have a Feathered Friends minus 25 down bag.

Thx, I just pushed the Buy button on Amazon. Old Delorme for SD, Benchmark for Utah. Good to know the NF maps are free. Guess I go back & forth for detail & elevation. Good tip re maps behind counter @ welcome cntrs.  Freecampsites.net is great. Next big challenge is getting a Smartphone for...

    Benchmark or DeLorme?

Lol, I belong to an advanced scientist geology group. U R right, those geo features don't (hardly ever) change real fast. But I thought may be forest service or blm roads might change over 12 years time. I wanted the book type.

    Benchmark or DeLorme?

Has anyone noticed that it's become very difficult to find Benchmark atlases, recent editions, for many western states. I wanted one for South Dakota. Nope, seems they've been snapped up. And Benchmark informed me they have no plans for another SD atlas for the next two years.  Guess I will be...

Heating when you can't afford a Mr. Buddy

Glad these worked for you. I got the brand CVRL recommended: Baffin Booties. He said he did not know why they worked so well, but they were the best he tried. When the box arrived it said Expedition Booties for Basecamp. They use these at high altitude in tents overnight before climbing further...

Need Professional Solar Installer in Santa Fe NM

After a 30 min talk with the rep at the Flagstaff, AZ solar supplier I viewed the CVRL video. Alas, Matt, the installer is already far north of me.  NM is a sunny place with solar co's but I've found none so far that do solar install on vehicles. The supplier in Flagstaff doesn't do installs...

    Flexible Solar Panel Recommendations

I'm in Santa Fe, NM. Seems like with all the sun here and the van dwellers coming to take advantage of the NM Park Pass one of the local solar companies would do solar installs for vehicles. When I called a few months ago no one did this kind of work here or in Albq, a larger city. I'm not...

how to make an insulated curtain?

  I need some "walking around money" too. To stay on topic, extra $$$ would would help me make those complex Reflectix "sandwich" insulated window shields, as well as the curtains I am hanging. All this stuff for making a camper van adds up.  May get Freedom ready to roll, then have...

how to make an insulated curtain?

Thx, John. I'll save the rare earth magnets for rock hounding. The metal strip from Home Depot does hold magnets.  I didn't know magnetic material came in strips or rolls. That could be extremely handy.

how to make an insulated curtain?

Thanks, Victor. I just watched this guy using a thin aluminum strip across the top of his Prius in order to hang curtains that block off the back seats. He's a genius.   Just watched the video you sent re making an insulated "sandwich" for windows. It's very precise work & I'd have to...
